Hey Nass Moms! Session 1.

But having the mixer and mock-indoc the same night will make one or the other interesting. Imagine indoc before the mixer, and then the state of shock some people will be in during the social thing, it'll be great.

And if its the other way around, you know more than one person will forget the mission, ranks, or man in the arena (I remember some people who just didn't bother memorizing it in the first place)

Seems like you've been there? If so, did you follow thru and LOA?

Okay- the boy called and I was outside and missed it. However, here are the vitals:

Delta Company
2nd Platoon
5th Squad

He said everything was pretty much over and that was it. I've called him back to remind him of the 3 hr. time difference and we're still up and to call back. I think I sounded desperate. I just want news!

Nurseypoo

Anyone else have a child in Delta?

HOORAH FOR NURSEYPOOH HEARING FROM THE BOY! Just think ... we get them back tomorrow night all full of info we will have to beg and plead and coerce and interrogate to get info out of! And all they will want to do is sleep! :)

His best friend has been calling every day. I called him back and let him know that as far as I knew, the boy was still alive.

Exactly the way I feel! I want to know EVERY LITTLE DETAIL! Unfortunately for him, Friday starts his finals for high school. Hope he studied before he left!

What does Lola say?

NURSEYPOO .. FINALS? Poor kid his brain will be mush! School was out here 2 weeks ago. I thought Cali ended early too. When do ya'll go back . Aug or Sept?

Have not heard from Miss Lola 2night.

What did the boy say about Mock Indoc????

Mom2Lola2011-

He goes to parochial school and they are uber traditional. First Tuesday after Labor Day. Plus, thou shalt go to school 180 days!

I know. I feel sorry for him, but this side trip was considered excused since it was deemed "educational." Even if they wouldn't have excused it, I would have let him go, anyway.

Boy said NOTHING about ANYTHING. Just that everything was pretty much over. He's a real Chatty Kathy. Such a difference between a boy and a girl. His flight gets in about 9:20 p.m. and we should be home about an hour after that. He only has a half day on Friday if that'll help him.

OK! HEARD FROM MISS LOLA! They had Sea Trials today from 12 until 8. They WRESTLED (yes wrestled), Got in Boats and "rowed around", did difficult Obstacle Course, Swam in the pool, Crawled??, and her fav thing was the LOG PT.

They had MRE's for lunch and for the vegetarians they actually had VEGGIE MRE's.

Weather was overcast and comfortable with a few sprinkle showers.

She said they are absolutely exhausted and had several injuries today. They had 3 people missing so they had to do an addl formation this evening (I think) but they ppl were out somewhere injured.

Tonight they had Mock Indoc... It seems Miss Lola and 2 of her squad mates had the giggles. They were first told to do Double Sandwich?? SIR SIR YES YES SIR SIR?? which evidently made them laugh more and made to do a 5x sandwich. Finally Lola and Squad mate from MD had to hold there mouths full of water and stare at each other thinking if they laughed they would spit all over each other! TYPICAL OF MISS FUNNY GIRL! She said IT WAS GREAT AND SHE LOVED ALL OF IT.

Tomorrow is PT at 5, Breakfast, Brief, Pack and End of Ceremony!
Thats the scoop from the Lola!

Hi Moms!
Y'all sound just like I did about a year ago!
Just thought I'd let you know that my ds never did just sit and chat about every detail when he got home. At least for him, I think it was a lot to process. NASS made quite an impression, and put him into a pretty "thoughtful" mood for a while. Once he went to NASS, the decision about whether USNA was the right choice then became "serious" and "real".

As much as I wanted to hear all about every little thing, it really only came out in bits and pieces over time. We did eventually talk about everything (& talk & talk & talk!), but not right away. He probably even tried to avoid the issue at first!

Maybe your kids won't be like mine, but just in case they are, don't be too disappointed!

Hope they all had/have a fantastic time! Hope they are able to gain some insight into the USNA experience. Hope it helps them "choose wisely"!

I KNOW how glad you are to get them back! Enjoy them every minute, because this next year will fly!
Cheers to all!

Hallelujah! I have spoken with the Boy! He says the following. First day he didn't know what to expect, second and remaining days were totally fun. GREAT time was had.

Sea Trials he was able to get nasty dirty and showers in 2 minutes.

Their Mock Indoc was on 1st deck, at attention, facing the wall, but could not stand on the black tiles, because they were not worthy. Their mids started playing the song, "Welcome to the Jungle."

He has not packed. Like I'm REALLY surprised. He said he didn't have to use the Febreeze, since it wasn't so hot there. However, the weather is only going to get hotter and they're expecting thunderstorms tomorrow.

He said 100% he wants to go there. It was so much fun.

Awesome Nursey!!! The Boy Speaks!

Mom2Lola2011-

Did they ever find the missing people? Nick said nothing about Log PT. What is LOG PT?

Sandwiches, huh? I think I would have spit the water out.

At least you get details w/Lola. Nick will give out chapters, I expect. I won't get to read him all in one sitting. That's okay. At least we'll have our kiddos home!

NURSEY..

I think the missing people were wherever they send injured people. Infirmary? Log PT was evidently running around with a Log doing activites. HA! Who knows..

log pt :

Mom2Lola2011 and dbluecap:

Thank you for educating me! I will learn this new language.

Never knew a log could be so versatile. Gives you something to think about.

Mom2Lola2011-

I should have known. Dumb question. Scratch that about lost people. I think I was so excited The Boy called, that my mind went Jell-o. Of course they would send them to get fixed. Hope no one broke anything!

Log PT!? These kids have all the fun! (Thanks dlbluecap for the links)

I'm so grateful for the Lola updates I think our experience will be like bz2010 when our son gets home. He talks when things remind him of his experiences.

Nursey - my son did finally call too, he talked for less than 5 minutes and said they spent quite a bit of time memorizing stuff. It wonders me (that's an Amish saying) if the boys are under a little bit of pressure not to call their mommies.

PS Nursey - my son, James, is in Delta, too. I hope our kids met!
