Do you know when they will be dismissed and for those flying, be taken to the airport?

Since Megan was in Lola's Co. can't wait to grill Megan on how Lola and her sqaud mate looked- assumming Megan wasn't one of them- with the water torture.

And since I've not heard from mine yesterday, I pray she wasn't one of those MIA(s).

Also can't believe that they LOG Pt. Did this in Marine BST & ITR. Not exactly, I imagine, what pre-plebes expected. In the pics I did notice that no females where involved in Log PT?

Same here with mine. Private school and finals for the next 2 weeks. Fortunately all AP(s) out of way. This week was also an "unexcused" absence for her- but what the hey- she wanted to go.

Nick said they had absolutely no time to hardly sit down, much less call home.

I sincerely hope our kids met, too. That'd be awesome. Nick is supposed to take pictures today of his squadmates, etc., so hopefully one will be James. Do you know what platoon or squad James was in?

W/out the Lola updates, I'd be lost. When did James call?

Unexcused? It was totally educational! Did you talk to the principal? I spoke directly w/Nick's and he deemed it okay. Huh.

I am happy about the AP's. Rest should be easier.

I think you did the right thing by having her go. Do they not understand that when she goes to the USNA it only makes the school look that much better?

Son is heading to AFSS this weekend and then over to NASS Session III June 17th. To those of you that dropped your kids off for session 1, what USNA gate was best? # 1 right by the visitors center? Did they all form together at 11 am, or did they march em off one by one to the dorm when they first arrived? Is there time for them to wander thru the visitors center, see the movies, etc before reporting in? And how was car parking - tight around town I guess? Anything else for us newbies to know before we drive into Annapolis with our nass'rs? THANKS!

We got to NASS at about 2pm and were directed to Dahlgren hall. Parking is tight but we were able to grab a spot briefly to unload the luggage. I said goodbye to my son right away and he was directed to an area to wait with a few others and then I guess they carried their stuff to Bancroft. I tried to give up my parking spot quickly because there were quite a few vehicles waiting. I went and parked at the visitor center (good parking there) visited the head (hee, hee) and bought a postcard and a shirt and left the campus.

I couldn't figure out the gates and went in the first one I saw but there are plenty of signs and nice people to get you to your destination. As far as wandering around my son did not want to do that but if you get there early there's no reason why your son couldn't get his bearings on campus before going on to Dalhgren.

There was road work going on near the campus and lots of tourists, too. So I didn't stop in Annapolis at all.

PS my son will be at AFSS this weekend, too.

Vice principal said okay to absence as long as she makes up any required work before grading period over. I think an essay for English and a music arrangement for Humanities. Thanks for the concern.

They had 4 Companies with many squads within each Company, 6 kids in each squad (I think I have that right.) Probably 150 kids in each Company. The two girls Lola roomed with were Rachel and Lauren I think.

Lola has spent the day at the airport.. Flight not until 8:00. SHe has spent the day talking to other kids waiting for their flights and spent an hr in the USO talking to a B&G Officer from NM. (BTW.. wish we lived in NM.. They are in NEED of Candidates!.. Atlanta area has an ABUNDANCE).

I imagine it is just a matter of hrs before the Session I kids start posting about their experience! :) CANT WAIT TO HEAR ALL ABOUT IT!

I CANT WAIT THE LOLA! She is " GLITTERHAIRDYE" when she posts on here so i am sure you all will have plenty of posts from her as soon as she has slept for about 48 hrs!

NURSEYPOO, SEALION and BMOYET! THANK YOU FOR SHARING WITH ME THIS PAST WEEK And Keeping me company with the posts while my baby girl was away. I have enjoyed hearing about your awesome kids and you guys are SUPER LADIES! I hope we all will be right here a year from now as they get ready for I-DAY 2007!!

For those of you heading in for Sessions 2 or 3: Gate 1 is CLOSED for construction. This is the gate nearest to the downtown waterfront. Your options are are Gate 3 which can be accessed at the end of Maryland Avenue or Gate 8 which is off Route 450.

If you are driving into town, get off Route 50 at Rowe Boulevard and head south. Turn left at Taylor Street (this is exactly after the stadium, which will be on your right). Taylor will "T" into Route 450 where you turn right and then go straight till you see Gate 8 on your right.

If you are staying in town and walking in you can still walk in Gate 1.

Hey y'all, my mom told me to stop by here after I checked my emails. I don't think I met y'all's kids but that's only because I mostly hung out with first platoon of Charlie (C-1-1!!!!). It was an amazing experience and I'm so glad I did it. I'm physically exhausted and hoarse from all the yelling but it was great. I hope everyone's kids liked it as well.
Thanks for keeping my mom company!
- Logan

The boy is home, the clothes are washed, and we're all going to hit the "rack." I'm so tired, I could sleep on the "deck." I don't have anything nice to say about a bathroom being called the "head."

Megan is home- safe and sound. A little battered and bruised, but all the better for the experience. She is eager to continue the application process. A couple of finals, an essay and her junior year is history (NPI). Thanks for the invite to learn from your experience as a parent of a mid-to-be. I'll definitely keep in touch.

PS MOM2LOLA:

Thank you for all your posting, especially in this past week's time of need.

NASS changed my daughter's life last year...
may it do the same for your children
as our count down days continue
know that I'm smiling with the memories of last year at this time, and enjoying reliving them with you all

I'd like to thank everyone on this thread for being so supportive. Nick talked non-stop from the time we picked him, up until midnight. At midnight he said there was other stuff, but he'd talk about it later.

It was very comforting having other parents who were experiencing the same thing I was to talk to.

You guys are great. Expecially MOM2LOLA for starting this thread.
