I took the SATs 3 times(1450, 1440, 1490 in that order). Then, I took the ACT without writing once to get 34. Should I send both my SAT and ACT, or would ACT trump my 1490? I’m confused because it indicated in Cappex that I had a better chance if I submitted both… but 34 is higher?!
@motherpugger if you want to send both then you HAVE TO SEND ALL TESTS! That is, they require all the tests you have taken for the SAT if you want to send in your SAT. Same for the ACT, but you only took once. Personally I would only send in the ACT because you only took once and it is a 34. BUT, if you send in the SAT (and have to send in all tests) - Cornell does superscore the SAT I believe.
Some schools within Cornell require SAT IIs even if you are using your ACT score. I do believe they will also send your SAT I scores with your SAT IIs (check on that).
@oldfort Hi! Yes, I talked to my counselor and they will only send my SAT IIs and SAT will not be included! @LvMyKids2 I agree that only turning in the ACT will be more beneficial for me (Plus, it’ll cost less money which is always great). I’m super confused because Cappex indicated that turning in my SAT would be more beneficial, but I just don’t see it… Colleges place no bias between ACT and SAT anyways (I believe)…
OP - your official test scores would be coming from the college board, not your counselor. College board’s website knows each school’s requirements and will send appropriate test scores.
@oldfort What do you mean? You just have to pay for College board to send individual score reports. Although College board knows these requirements, it’s up to the student to send them in accordingly, and I did.
@motherpugger i think what @oldfort was stating was that official scores come from the college board because YOU had stated that you had “talked to my counselor and they will only send my SAT IIs and SAT will not be included” I think @oldfort thought you meant your counselor was sending the scores - it is the way you phrased the statement, when in fact I think you meant that you talked to your counselor and your counselor confirmed that the College Board will only send SAT IIs and SAT not included. I disagree with @oldfort that CB knows each school’s requirements and will send appropriate test scores. That is NOT correct. It is up to the student to send what is required to the individual college.
@oldfort No, my advisor who used to be an admissions director at Swarthmore informed me that no, colleges are not informed if an applicant uses score choice…
