hey, so i just realized something

so what with the fact that all colleges are and have been getting record numbers of applicants i just think its kind of interesting how people have the same college expectations of people that they did 10 years ago, even though if you could get into cornell today you could probably get into harvard way back when. you could tell someone you go to, wake forrest for example and they could very well say "where"?, and mark you off in their mind as a person who goes to a no-name college even though youve made a massive achievement in getting accepted to that college. i mean, Uchicago got a 40% increase in applicants in one year! colleges are just getting much harder to get into, and i feel even worse for the incoming high school freshmen (im a junior) who have to deal with even lower acceptance rates. and the parents who went to name colleges dont seem to get that its alot harder than it was back then, and just think if they could do it their kid should. so even if you dont get into a "bumper-sticker" college, you should still be crazy proud of yourself, because just getting into, say, one of the top 50 colleges is a massive achievement, because now just staying out of devry or a jc is alot of work. so dont feel down if you dont get into the school whose license plate cover you wanted on your moms car, because youve still made a massive achievement.
im just saying that because this forum is full of people who seem very nervous about going ivy league type colleges, and even if you dont make it, yourself a massive pat on the back for going to NYU, or lesser colleges
