Hey Hoodisbe,

Thanks for your quick reply! I appreciate it!

You have good grades and test scores and above average EC
For the schools you are considering, you might need a “hook” as others call it.
I can’t find that above but you might have one.
If you have one, I bet you will get into at least one of your dream schools.
And btw, it is all just luck, at the end… so good luck!!!

Hrmm. 1st generation immigrant, struggled with English but ended up growing the hugest love/dedication for it since the first time I stepped off the airplane, read harrypotter up to book 5 when speaking english for 1 year…is that a hook? This kind of passion is reflected in my ECs too.

I have no idea what a qualifiable hook is.

Hooks are overrated. Seriously.

You seem dedicated, intelligent, and talented, and your GPA and test scores are phenomenal; you’ll have better-than-average chances at all these schools. Just keep up the stellar grades, and keep up a rigorous course load.

Good luck :)

Your grades and scores are essentially perfect. ECs demonstrate strong involvement and leadership capabilities, but not much of a focus-- are you interested in going into engineering? If so, emphasize the internship and maybe try something else STEM-related if you have time.

I’m sure you’ve heard it a million times-- Harvard, Yale, and Stanford are essentially crapshoots. You’re certainly a well-qualified, competitive applicant but the schools are still reaches just as they are for everyone. If you can write a fantastic essay about your transition to the US, that’s going to boost your chances.

Rice, Williams- High match/low reach
