Going to a "prestigious" school, landing a top job, or even making a lot of money will not simply make you a happy person. Watch the ted talks and read the statistics for proof!

So what are we supposed to do? Be poor?

Um…
I will decide what makes me happy.
Telling people what won’t make them happy will not make you happy. #ParadoxicalStatement

Some may think money =/= happiness, but it’s still a pretty good thing to have around.

Money won’t make you happy, but not having money will make you sad.

Truuuuuuuuue

I think all of you are missing the point. I can’t tell if you all are joking, maybe you are.

The point is that many high school student’s seem to be so heavily preoccupied and stressed about college and future jobs, that many forget to relax a little bit and have some fun! It’s ridiculous to think that:

A: Getting to a top university will lead to big bucks automatically
B: Thinking about college and studying 24/7 will get you to a top college
C: You’re going to be poor if you don’t go to a top university/get a top job.
D: You’re life will be miserable if you don’t attend a top university/get an elite job

Stress/Studying/Worrying =/= Getting Rich.

Stressing and only thinking about the future is NOT going to make the future any brighter. I wish people would understand this.

People should go and enjoy your high school years! Go to a party, have fun! If stressing about college is what you enjoy than go ahead I guess. Just know that stressing over it won’t make you rich and it definitely won’t make you happy. ( at least for the normal folks ). If you really are smart, then there shouldn’t be any need to stress over it.

CC seems to have the most stressed-out and boring kids in the entire planet, haha. Let loose some.

Our stressing over a common objective is what bonds us together and makes us achieve more than we normally would.
Plus, who doesn’t like it when people complement you on how smart you are? If I didn’t self-study AP Psychology, I wouldn’t know this statement is typical to Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

Extra money wouldn’t make me a whole lot happier than I already am, but other people’s admiration would. I don’t mean I want random people to tell me I’m smart…I mean I want smart people to think I’m one of them.

stress level becomes a negative transcendental imaginary number I-)
Just because I went on here a lot and thought about college admissions a lot doesn’t mean I was stressed out about it. It’s fun to think about this stuff.

*compliment, unless the presence of stupid people complements your intelligence or something.

@TheApples Exactly!

My point was just that it’s ridiculous how people are over thinking and analyzing high school! But duh, hardwork and striving to push yourself is good!

@DigitalKing - way to use hashtags on CC. It’s advice guys, you don’t have to agree with it but it doesn’t mean that you should deride it. Good day.

@DigitalKing You are totally misreading what i’m saying.

I am not saying you should be poor by any means!

I won’t use 99.9% of what I’m learning after I graduate. The only point of this is to get into college.

I always follow the advice: don’t have a dream school - have a dream life. There are an infinite number of ways to achieve what you want to be 20 years from now. Believe it or not, HYPSM is only one of the ways.
