Thanks to anyone who cares... you're awesome.

hey you. yeah, you. i'm talking to you! (okay, i'm totally lame).
You have a really good shot it, it seems, with your stats. Your SAT scores have to be raised, especially in math, for CAS, but you have a strong UW GPA for your courseload. The only thing that worries me is that my friend last year had similar stats, but with more leadership and community service, and she got put into GSP after applying regular. That honestly really doesn't even mean anything b/c everyone is different, but you have a really good chance of getting in.

thanks!

i'm just really nervous about getting in...

esp. after visiting last saturday... i thought people exaggerated when they said "i fell in love with ___ college". but now i know what they mean after visiting nyu... i really really really wanna go and i wouldn't give a crap if they put me in gsp, as long as i get to go. lol. was your friend a URM as well?

If you really want to go then maybe you should apply for early decision. However, you may want to check with others schools at to fin aid.

Nyu sucks at financial aid, its because they have a large student population and little endowment because they spend a lot of their money. A large endowment doesnt make a great school however, and part of the reason its a bit low is because they didnt want to invest it and take a risk of it going under and becoming bankrupt in the 1990's. Theyve come along way since the 1970's when they were bankrupt.

PM(PRIVATE MESSAGE ME if u like),

NYU's endowment is not as small as you might think. Per IPEDS at the end of Fiscal 2005 (6/30/05) NYU's endowment was $1,591,687,498. It's certainly not in Harvard's range but 1.6 billion is not to shabby.

i would apply to early decision but i'm not exactly rich and i wanted to compare fin aid packages with other schools... and if other schools offer me significantly more money than NYU (if i get in) i'd appeal NYUs offer...

thats my plan, anyway.

I think you have a pretty good shot. apply and hope for the best! good luck!

SAT score update: i got a 660 in math and 670 in writing on October SAT...

so...

superscores: CR+M=1350, CR+M+W=2020

i improved math by 70 points!! :D

woo! i improved math by 100 points, but my CR and writing went down. yay.

lol yeah the CR on that sucked.....

cheez we have the same gpa and sat...do ED

i can't do ed...

me either :(

ok. if i had c's and d's (one b one semester) in math my freshman and sophomore years, am i dead meat? if i had b's my junior year and a's my senior year and a good rec from my calc teacher, will nyu take note of it? i'm so scared of my horrid math grades... bleh.

i'm not sure how competitive it'll be this year, but your SAT scores would put you in GSP if you were applying last fall. NYU loves diversity so the hispanic background/awards help. i know people in GSP who had scores of 1350 and higher, so be prepared for the medium-sized envelope. NYU has 40,000 freaking applicants, so they do have to cut people by scores, even if they say they don't.

i'd be honored if i were gsp'd, honestly.
