HHMMMM I wonder if I even have a chance?

I'm wondering what you guys think my chances for the university of Michigan is? The Princeton Review's Counselor-O-matic said it's a good match but i want to know your opinion.

-Unweighted GPA: 3.7 (Into Umich GPA calculation)
-ACT Score: 1st test-22, 2nd test-25 (yeah, that's probably my weak spot)
-Took a total of 4 AP classes. (AP U.S history, Ap Gov't, AP European History. and AP Early American history)
-Michigan resident
-Goes to a pretty good school. Not as good as those elite private school.
-Decent E.C ( 200 hours of community service, marching band, etc)
-I help out my mom's store 20 hours a week
-Essay were pretty good. My teacher who corrected it loved my essay and one of my short answer. But she thought my other short answer was okay, not as good as my essay.
-I can't say too much about the recommandation since I don't know what my teacher wrote about me. But I have to assume it's a good recommendation since i had her for three years straight, she knows me pretty well and she likes me.
- i turned my application in October 24 i think.

I wonder if I even have a chance of getting in. I know the University of Michigan accept about 50% of the applicants. Even though that sounds pretty decent and it raises my hope but I know a lot of the applicants have a lot BETTER stats than mine. Well I turned my application in so there's nothing more I can do. If it doesn't work out, I guess I'll transfer from Michigan State University. Well thank you in advance for your opinion.

Your chancs aren't good. I would not say that Michigan is a match. It is a reach. You have a shot, but usually, students with lower than 26 on the ACT do not stand much of a chance. The 50% acceptance rate is missleading. Most of those accepted have 1300+ on their SAT, 28+ on their ACT and 3.8+ unweighed GPAs. The acceptance rate for students with stats lower than the mean is actually quite low. What makes Michigan admissions numbers even more missleading is that many students who apply to Michigan, apply to it as a safety or a match. Michigan is sometimes not the first choice. That explains why the difference between the stats of those admitted and those who enroll is quite large. You would get a better feel for your chances if you look at the average stats of those admitted.

Well thanks for the advice. I'm wondering if there's anything else I can do about it? Maybe write them a letter or extra teacher recommandation or anything?

Recommendations, as long as they aren't excessive or irrelevent, can never hurt. So if you have good ones, send them in. If your essays were good, it may also help. But at the end of the day, Michigan is so huge, it is mainly numbers driven. Your GPA is good...and you applied early enough. But your ACT will hurt you. Like I said, you have a chance, but not a good one.

Thank you again for the advice. Hope you have a great Christmas
