Hi! Advice for a Hopeful Fighting Irishman '07 from NY

Hi everyone! I am currently junior in a compettitive public school in new york. I recently got my SAT results back and received a 800 CR 740 Math and a 680 Writing for a 1540/2220. Other than SATs, I have about a 93UW GPA (school doesn't rank) in mostly honors and APs. I have decent EC's and 700+ hours of community service. I would really like to apply early action, but I was wondering if perhaps my GPA, which I have been told is good, but not stellar, should keep me waiting until the regular decision round. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you are coming from a competitive high school, I don't think your GPA would hurt you that much. Also, it sounds as if you have a challenging course schedule and strong SATs. With good ECs and community service, I think you have a good shot EA.

1540 is excellent. i think you have a great chance. do early action unless your below like the top 10% of ur class - which ican't imagine seeing that SAT score.

I agree; if you are in the top 10% of your class (which I know you will have to feel; my school didn't rank either) then I would go ahead and apply EA. Good luck!
