HI, Chances for NW, UVA, W&M?

Hey guys. I'm applying to college in January, nothing early action/decision. My application is strong in some areas, lacking in some others.

GPA: 3.76 weighted, 3.45 unweighted
SAT: 680 Math, 720 CR, 800 Writing (sat three times)
SAT IIs: Lit 720, US History 730

Noteworthy Courses: AP World, AP Chem, AP Psych, AP US, AP Lang, AP ES, AP Calc AB, AP US Gov, AP Lit

ECs/Extra things:
-Editor-in-Chief of my school newspaper (been a member since 8th grade)
-President of my school's chapter of Key Club
-Captain of my Quizbowl/It's Academic Team (will compete on national television later this school year)
-Currently have two jobs, I referee youth basketball and I work for a local pizza place
-Went to Virginia Boys State, joined the House of Delegates, got 2nd place in a Toastmasters public speaking competition

Hook of Sorts:
I've been pretty involved with journalism. I've been in journalism classes since 8th grade and I'm now the editor-in-chief of my school's paper. I attended a weeklong Washington Post internship in August and blog for the Post sometimes.

I have community service but not a lot of it is logged and documented. I don't know exactly how community service hours work for a college app.

Financial Aid: Yeah

The List:
Northwestern University
University of Virginia
William & Mary
Virginia Tech
VCU (safety)

You spell “Harvard” incorrectly on your location. At least it looks you were trying to spell Harvard; if not, good luck at “Harverd University.”

UVA - reach
NW - reach
WM - match
VT - match
VCU - match

Would’ve helped if your GPA is higher.

Chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/801543-uva-nyu-usc.html

Northwestern University-middle reach
University of Virginia-low/middle reach
William & Mary-high match/low reach
Virginia Tech-low match
VCU (safety)-low match

Your SAT is good and it’s great that you’re captain/head of three things, have two jobs, and hold a vested interest in journalism. However, as a candidate in a very strong applicant pool for some of these schools, that’s not really remarkable. I’d suggest really playing up your strengths and interests on your applications; try to write really good essays about them. And don’t worry about the ■■■■■.
