This is a terrific thread at the right time! D just visited Rhodes last month & really liked it. She is interested in several small schools, including Davidson, DePauw, Furman, Centre, Hendrix, Denison. The overnight visits are helping her to make distinctions between schools & to firm up where she would be most comfortable. Money is going to play a role, most definitely, as I know what we are expected to contribute & we can't afford to live on what would be left over! Her stats are comparable to those of the Bellingrath recipients, and she has solid EC's. There is no way to know who will be offered what when it comes to merit scholarships, so I am glad she seems to like a few schools well enough to attend! We are from MI, so she is a relatively rare commodity at the southern schools; hope it is at least a small advantage :)

Her take on Rhodes is that it is a wonderful place with a service-oriented student body. She enjoyed the class she attended & liked the campus. Her host was great, and she introduced her to a lot of nice students. D's only comment was that they dress a lot nicer there than at some of the other schools she visited ... she said she would need a full ride so she could afford the clothes she would need!! She happens to love nice clothes & has spent the last several years in a plaid skirt with knee socks, so that's not all bad in her view.
