Hi Everybody!

My daughter was helping/demonstrating at the dance audition last Friday and will be helping again this coming Friday. She said they were split into two groups. She was only at one, due to a class. She grew up dancing at my own dance studio and she cannot say enough about the dance classes there. They are truly second to none!

My daughter is the one who was at another school for one semester, quickly realized her/our mistake, and then reauditioned/transferred to Elon. It was the BEST move of her life thus far and I think she appreciates it all the more because she has something to compare it to. She is enjoying EVERYTHING about Elon! The MT instructors and her advisor, who is Lynn - formerly of the UB program, are encouraging and nurturing yet push the kids to grow. She has said often, "if I only knew then, what I know now about Elon, I would never even have considered anywhere else!" One of the coolest things she has told me about is this thing call 'departmental'. The entire MT department meets every Tuesday at 4 to get announcements, sing for each other, rehearse their theater conference 'package' and/or rehearse for Collage/Grand Night for Singing. At the meeting, Seniors sit in the front row, Juniors in the second, Sophomores in the third and of course, Freshmen in the fourth row. Each year they move up a row. I just think that is the neatest tradition!! I could go on and on.....

If anyone wants further info about Elon, don't hesitate to ask or email. I don't post a lot but I could not resist putting my two cents worth in about Elon!

I, too, am heading that way this coming weekend, even though my daughter is mostly tech crew for Carousel...I can't wait to see it.

Showmom,

Your daughter was helping in my daughter's audition class on Friday! The first thing she said when she came out was what a fabulous dancer your daughter is....she said she has the most amazing extension! She loved the dance audition and thought your daughter (along with everyone she met that day) was just so nice! We will be at Carousel too on Friday...maybe we will meet you then!

In response to an earlier question, we have about 7 African-American students in the performing arts department, ( That includes both acting and music theatre ) 3 of these are Music theatre majors. Actually, our fall play was Blues for an Alabama Sky, a wonderful play by Pearl Cleage set in Harlem in the 1930s. It was an amazing show and it had an entirely African-American cast!

Oodles of Elon MT love ~
