Hi. I'm an Asian- Male in Junior High School

hey, I'm a Chinese Male in Junior High
This year, we had three people(each) from our school district get accepted to Harvard U, Yale, Julliard, Princeton, Columbia, Stanford, and MIT. I am looking to apply to those schools too, when the time comes :) but I want some hints as to what I should be doing starting my Freshman year of HIgh School. These are the courses I know I have for freshman year:
english H
AP Global History
Math 2H
Science Bio H
Spanish2 (I'm thinking of changing to French 2 or 3)
Studio in Art
Orchestra
Gym

For E.C.'s I am joining:
Youth Leadership Group
Debate team
Science Olympiad
Math club
Art Club
(Maybe track**)
The school newspaper
School magazine
Captain's council.
Jazz ensemble

Outside E.C.'s include:
Violin
Piano(for three years, currently in Level 5 our of 6 levels)
Art
Summer studies at CTY from JHU
Taking college courses

Looks great! You parents must be very proud of you. ;)

Don't forget the top LACs when the time comes. :)

Take advantage of those easy courses and get a 4.0, then maybe prep a bit for the PSAT. I see you've already decided on the clubs you want to join, which is good, but also think about starting a club of your own. Also, you realize piano for 3 or 4 years won't get you into Julliard? Hell I don't think that even helps you at any of the schools you're applying to.

So far, I've sold two pieces of artwork at age 9 for $300 each and have won numerous art, writing, and poetry awards.

Looks good, but middle school and Freshman year are easy.

dont forget to do community service X-)

The EC's look cool. Just remember to not overschedule yourself. Sometimes club meetings overlap and such, and you end up having to stick with only three or four clubs.

Other suggestions: study, study, study. Do your homework unless you are positive you can get an A in the class. And don't forget to have some fun, too.

good luck with high school- work hard and u'll do fine :)

do you guys think I should do anything else? Any other ECs, boost my stats up to what level, or focus on anything? I already took the old SAT I's last year in 7th grade and I think I got a 1200 or 1300 something.

It was just a practice SAT I though from John Hopkins University CTY

my impression is u just ran through a list taylored to appeal to colleges for your ec's.

i would not suggest doing that.

Actually, I am interested in all those things. Thank you for your suggestion, but I enjoy math and science, I like music, I've always loved writing and I'm the best artist in my junior high ( of about 1200 kids). I'm a first generation Asian with a single mother from a poor environment. My mom doesn't speak english and I don't know my dad that well. So, with all of these acomplishments, I would say that I deserve to be proud of myself for bring all of this on me.

But...your prbbly right about track. I don't enjoy running at all, though I am good at it.

cheezmediator,

why you had that impression? even the ec's are indeed taylored, that's tremendous for a teenager!

thank you all for your interest! Any more I should know about?

any more help?

bump....no more replies?

Ok, here is one more: come to cc offen. :D

Bump....:(:);(;)

man, read some of OTHER people's posts and you will get a good idea of a "well-rounded" student that colleges like to see

EDIT: we cant really help you much when you are entering freshman year, just do what you enjoy
