Hi, I'm concerned about my senior year courses. Can someone help me out here?

Hi I’m currently a junior and soon i have to submit which class i am going to take senior year. Which one do you guys think is more appealing to you guys?

AP LIT
AP calc BC
civics/econ CP
Chinese 4 Honors
music appreciation
Varsity soccer

AP LIT
AP calc BC
civics/econ cp
Chinese 4 Honors
music appreciation
AP psychology

and yes i have to take music appreciation since we need 1 year of fine art to graduate.
ps, i am not chinese but korean.

Varsity Soccer is a class???

But anyways. I’d go with option 2. The more rigorous your schedule is, the better.

Colleges want you to take the most challenging classes as you can within the context of your high school.

soccer is a class in my school. and i’ve been doing soccer for 2 years so far 1 year JV 2 year Varsity. So should i just quit soccer senior year and go with number 2?

I wouldn’t recommend quitting Varsity Soccer because that will add to your list of ECs. I’m just puzzled as to how soccer can be a class, but whatever. Do you guys practice during school or,…???

Try to replace that Civics/Econ class with AP Psych if you can. Also, what does CP mean? You could possibly take AP Macro/Microeconomics instead.

I’d advise you to take at least 3 APs next year; what APs are you able to take? Can you take AP Chinese instead of honors?

2, unless you have a chance of being recruited for soccer.

Schedule 1 is better.

@FutureDoctor2028‌ - OP might have a layout where soccer covers a gym class.

@TheDidactic‌ Ohh, I see. Thank you for clarifying. Seemed strange how it was its own independent class at first glance; imagine how the grading system would work, haha

No problem. Depends on the school, it might just be a Pass/Fail system.

I must take civics econ for senior year and cp means regular college prep. Also there is no ap chinese at my school and chinese 4 honor is the highest.

So first one or second one? and CP means regular college prep class and i must take civics econ in my senior year and i dont think i can handle AP civics and econ since i heard that the teacher of that class is the worst out of all of my school teachers. And no my school does not offer AP chinese but CHinese 4 honors is highest

Top colleges generally want to see 4-5 advanced classes.

Generally, you’re okay as long as you aren’t slacking off. Still, unless there are extenuating circumstances, you should try to take as much of a difficult courseload as you can manage.

In your opinion first is better or second?

Keep taking soccer. It shows consistency.
However, out of soccer season, what do you do during that period?
What colleges are you aiming for?

Im not doing anything but have 5 periods only. I have nothing else to take since its in the middle of the semester. Cant really take anything. Also im aiming for emory university and USC and couple UCs

Stay in soccer! It’s something that provides you with enjoyment, and is an important source of downtime. Also, it’s a good extracurricular to have since you will be a three-year varsity player! Go with schedule 1.

Its actually 2 year varsity and 1 year JV if i decide to join soccer senior year

Try to use this period for something, like join an art class or become teacher’s aide.

The thing is i have nothing else to join since it is in the middle of the semester

Ask your guidance counselor. Some classes may be “half term” ou “half semester”… Just ask. Free periods are not seen positively by adcoms, and anyway you need to “do something”, if only teacher’s aide or something.
