HI! It's Us (a pair of snazzy Lawrentians)

<p>LOLZBABE and I are sitting in my room. We first met on this forum. We are both sitting wearing zip fleeces. We both know everything about Lawrenceville, so we would like to share some of what we know.<br>
Ask us questions!</p>

<p>Hahaha. Glad you two met each other in person.</p>

<p>how is fh/ lax? i was able to meet the coach and when she said she played lax at princeton i was like :OOOOOO YOU ARE MY ROLE MODEL.</p>

<p>lol. but yeah how are the sports teams?</p>

<p>also how is the hw and the food and how are the dorms? like the houses. can you tell me a little bit about each house and house pride house activities etc.etc.</p>

<p>[The</a> Lawrenceville School - Athletics](<a href=“http://lawrenceville.org/athletics/index.asp]The”>Home - Lawrenceville Athletics)</p>

<p>Food comes from an independent company called sustainable fare ([Sustainable</a> Fare, Environmentally Friendly Food Service](<a href=“http://sustainablefare.com/]Sustainable”>http://sustainablefare.com/)) that was founded by lawrenceville’s head chef. The food is actually quite good, considering that each meal is being prepared for almost 1000 people. The company focuses on providing food that is low impact on the environment and from local NJ producers. This way we know we are helping the world and local NJ businesses.</p>

<p>Lawrenceville’s dorms are legendary and house pride is very high, especially when you are in the house system (soph/junior year).</p>

<p>BTW - Dapple and LOLZ - if you like talking to people/helping people on CC, I highly recommend applying to be tour guides!</p>

<p>Whats the hw like there for u guys, i hear theres a lot</p>

<p>Hey Snazzy Duo,

  1. Like in math, what other subjects can you go faster at your own pace? Since you cluster all freshmen into one house, how do you get to reach out to upper classmen if you need help with say advanced math?
  2. How are the teachers? I heard the humanities program is strong and the math program is not very strong, is it true? How are the art and music programs?
  3. What do you do on weekends? Do the boarders from NJ and PA, go home on the weekends?
  4. Since only 30% of the student body is on financial aid, most students may be rich or well to do. Do they form a lot of cliques?
5.What is the profile of an average lawrentian (friendly, witty, snobby, entitled, down-to-earth,nerdy, competitive, helpful?).
  5. How much homework do you have each night? Is it busy work or meaningful work?
  6. Do you have to travel long distances for your sports? How are your Soccer and Track programs?
  7. What are the hardest/demanding subjects? Easiest?
9.What makes one successful at Lawrenceville? Thanks.</p>

<p>is Lawrenceville stressful?</p>

<p>Was it difficult to make friends?</p>

<p>Is Lawrenceville diverse?</p>

<p>Do you guys get homesick a lot?</p>

<p>Im pressed for time so I’ll be brief - </p>

<p>lane: hw is manageable. the school focuses on well rounded students.</p>

<p>Invent: 1)virtually all classes can be placed out of. Some more easily than others though. Peer tutors. Consultation
2)Fantastic. Of course there are always the handful that are not the best, but it is usually the newer ones and they usually aren’t around too long
3)School hosts lots of activities. some students go home, but the majority do not unless it is a ‘long’ weekend
4) Technically, 100% of the student body is on financial aid since the school subsidizes our tuition. Money does not separate people, it is not public info if someone is on financial aid
5) very diverse, thats how all schools are. all kinds of people go here
6)often meaningful work. more work each year. as a senior, i can expect at least 2 hours if not more
7)soccer and track are fabulous. check out the school website. travel depends on the team. hockey travels the most
8) depends on the person taking the class… ex: if you are good at math then math will be easy
9) depends on who you ask… i say time management</p>

<p>polodolly: it is at times, but the school doesnt purposely try to stress everyone out.</p>

<p>no, friends come naturally</p>

<p>lawrenceville is very diverse</p>

<p>i never get homesick, it is quite easy to get in touch with home via email, facebook, skype, etc</p>

<p>Sorry this is so quick, exam week is in a few days so there is a lot to do atm… I didnt want to leave you all hanging though. please post if you want more info but i highly recommend checking out the school website and/or going on a tour if you are able to at some point.</p>

<p>No need for an apology, LLVILLE! Thank you so much for taking the time to answer those questions, especially in the midst of exam week.</p>

<p>Hi! I applied to Lawrenceville and I really like the school, so…</p>

<p>What’s the English program like there?</p>
