Hi just a quick ACT question

ello everyone, thanks for your time. i got a 1930 on my SAT but a 31 on my ACT will Cornell take the higher score? and also...is a 31 good enough? i live in a place where SAT reigns supreme, so i have no clue. and help would be appreciated ^^ i will be applying ED. thanks again!!! i'm thinking of applying to CAS. if the score is a bit low, i think i can back it up with my three books that i've written. thanks

your question is exactly mine, so im bumping this.

And ... does Cornell take scores from separate test sittings?

Or even from separate tests, i.e. for example ... verbal from SAT, math from ACT?

I've been told that Princeton has "no policy" on this and that they look at them all, which would at least suggest the high scores, whenever and whatever test get noted.

Wondering about how Cornell does this.

bump it up

Does Cornell take you highest SAT or your Highest ACT score. I know it superscores the SAT and ACT, but does is superscore them together? Let's say your ACT math is higher than your SAT math, but your SAT Reading is higher than you ACT English. Does it superscore together? The last one is unlikely. I'm not sure though.

Also, since Cornell doesn't look at the writing section in the SAT, is there a section that they don't look at in the ACT?

Does anyone have the answer to these questions? Policies are hard to find online and usually they are from very unreliable sources. If you know the answer, state your source.

Thanks, I'm bumping this for legit answers.

salad: your 31 approximates a 2070, so its definitely higher. Even with ED, higher scores are ALWAYS better than the alternative, so aim for a 32+ to get to ~mean for CAS.

Oh I should mention, this thread was made in the year 2006!!

That's like three years ago!

Haha I was reading along and then realized the date of the OP... So I had to scroll down to find new stuff! Well I'm not sure about cornell but I talked to a Dartmouth Admissions officer about this when I was there and they convert all ACT scores to SAT scores then just take the highest one. That way everyone's numbers all look the same to the adcoms. But in this process they just took the final composite score for the ACT and disregaded indiividual scores... So really I'm not sure on the super scoring thing.

Is it appropriate to call the admissions office and ask this question?
