<p>Hi, I was wondering how common it is for high school students to help publish a scientific research manuscript, and how much merit it holds when the admissions guys see it on your EC list?? In my case I interned at a lab and collected experimental data for a recently published paper with my name on it among 4 other researchers. Also would it be a good idea to send the colleges a copy of this published manuscript? It is in a journal called "Alcohol", btw.

<p>Do not send a copy. Send a one page abstract. List it in your ECs of course. No admissions office wants your paper to read – they aren’t qualified to tell trash from treasure. If it piques someone’s attn, they’ll contact you.</p>
