Chance @berkely/UCLA/UCSD/UCI???? pliz

You'll probably get more responses in "What are My Chances?"

Or post to the forum for the particular UC you're interested in. And have a sit-down with your GC and ask about the track record for students at your school getting into those colleges --- it somewhat matters regarding class rank, grades, what you intend to major in. I would never try to predict UC admissions decisions but if you can zero in on a program that is stronger at one UC than another and indicate in essays why that program is the right fit for you and vice versa, it will probably help. Essays and recommendations matter a lot and being in the top 4 percent of your senior class. Good luck. (P.S. there are also community colleges that are a direct feeder into UCLA and Berkeley if you get good grades, so that could be an option too if the top UCs are your goal.)

Are you planning to go to auditions for the music programs at these schools?

Thank you parents for the kind advices.

ellemenope: I am at crossroad.-Two paths lying in front of me

My original plan was I would use music as a "hook" with admissions and spend more time trying to improve my SAT test scores, since going to Berkely/UCLA is what I want.

Now that I know I could transfer from music school to L&S school, I am seriously considering rosin up the bow to practice more than ever. I have talked with my private cello teacher and he said I have a good chance and all, but I am not quite sure. After browsing thru the UCLA music dept, the audtion piece does look not too tough- playing only one movement from the major concertos with an accompanist ...

Oh grand Dio - Crudella what should I do? X(

I'd say go for the music hook. My son had better stats all around and was declined at UCLA last admissions cycle. With your stats right now...I feel you need the hook...he also had a bunch of ECs and still no admit...going to private school that was his first choice but we were surprised at the UCLA decline..it was his only one. He was accepted at UCI.

L.A. Times today ran a story about new UC admission requirements.
If you don't like your SAT scores, you can submit ACT scores and there's a conversion formula to help determine eligibility. The story included these links for more information:

Re UCLA--I think you'd have a better chance getting in as a music major from your audition than with the scores/GPA you now have. UCLA has gotten VERY competitive lately.

I'd also consider taking another SAT2 and hopefully getting in the high 600s/low 700s on it. UCSD is the next toughest UC to get into (after UCLA and UCB) and a big portion of the OOMPH of your application will be based on GPA/SAT1/SAT2 scores.

I've seen people with your GPA and testing profile get into UCI.
