Hi

Hi, im a 10th grader living in Belgium. I go to the international school of brussels which has one of the best reputations for schools in Europe. Im thinking about going to college in the U.S and I was wondering if you guys could help me out. Here is my info:

Australian - Indian parents
Australian - Belgian nationalities
Brown, 15 years old

Grades:
Math - A
Physics - A+
Chemistry - A
History - A-
English - B
French - B+
Computer Architecture - A+

E.C: Play tennis competitively, Play guitar, Qualified ski instructor in switzerland, Mathematic Competitions - Top 1% in several different international competitions,

I am going to take Math, Chem and Physics at higher level IB, and French and English at lower level. I am debating whether to take either Buisness studies, Economics or Information technology at higher level or lower level. Based on some teachers opinions, i can probably get between a 39 and 43 in IB.

Based on the fact that im looking to do something along the lines of engineering, what do you guys think my chances are for getting into the following universities: Stanford, MIT, Caltech, Harvard, Yale.

And what are my chances of getting into the following universities in the U.K: Imperial, Oxford, Caimbridge, Southhampton.

Thank you, I really appreciate the help.

I would really appreciate any help.... thanks

Umm, you'd have to take the SAT's or the ACT.

And you're merely a freshman. Do yourself a favor. Don't get addicted to these boards.

Sorry, yet as a UK citizen - I don't see why you're so attracted to Southhampton - seriously; it isn't that great! If you're looking for sciency universities - go for as you've stated, Imperial and Oxbridge (you do know you can only apply to one or the other?) Durham, Warwick, LSE etc.

Stanford, MIT, Caltech, Harvard, and Yale are all extraordinarily difficult to get into.

To be successful, you will have to:

Score at least 2250 on the American SATs or 34 on the American ACTs

Score above 750 on any American SAT2s you may take

Graduate in the top 5% of your class

Have a grade point average of nearly 4 on a 4 point scale

Have some truly remarkable extrcurriculars (top 1% in international Math competitions is definitely a plus here)

And even then, you'll have about a 15% chance of acceptance at any of these colleges.

why would u ever want to go to harvard or Yale if u r thinking along the lines of engineering...both harvard merely has an engineering program and Yale engineering sucks too

dude..if u wna go to an engineering school aim for

MIT or GTECH..i believe if you continue on this path GTECH will be ez to get into and 50/50 for MIT..but yeah stick w/ it..gj so far

If you are a Belgium national and your parents will have lived, worked and paid taxes in Belgium for at least 4 years before your enrollment, you will qualify as an EU citizen and will pay much reduced fees in the UK. Worth considering if finances are an issue for you.

Didn't part of the engineering school at Southampton burn down a while back?
