Hello everyone, i finally arrived to US., but i have some problem i hope you can help me with:
1)i am 3 month from 19 and i am woried that until i make the SAT and TOFEL i will be too late to get in the college.
2) do i have a chance to get in one of the ivy league, because i don't think i will do great in the sat, but my home land grads are good 90 of 100.
3) if i got in a high cost school, will the goverment help me pay, becuse i have no income at all.
thank you everyone and i will greatly aprectiat the answer, bye.

please anyone answer

1) If you are not a senior then it is not too late to take either exam.
2) Depends on what hooks you have, not just grades.
3) Lower-level colleges will sometimes give full ride scholarships if one does well enough in school; at the higher level this is not true-one is only given aid from need. However, you sound like you are still classified as international (you sound like a Chinese) and as a result may get very little aid.

thank you for responding, i am a permanent resident becoming a citizen, and what do you mean by hooks?
thanks

answers please

hooks as in some national/international awards
nationally/internationally acclaimed athletes(think olympic?)/musician...etc
and things like that...

not really but nice try.......hook is something that makes you stand out in the eys of colleges........for example lets say JOHN DEERE opened up a club and raised $20,000 for charity for four years of hs life...........thats a hook....get the point?

if i do have a hook how cam i prove it, and please some help with the cost of the ivy abd how to pay for it.
thanks

if you want to know if you have a hook or not, post up your stat.... and the ivies are expensive....around 40k.........since you have no income you can get Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP), its for people who have low income, they give yo massive Aide there, and also Financial Aide (Fafsa), and lastly a loan...if you can get into a Ivy League, then you can definitely pay off your loan

i hope you had nice stats...
cause ives are not jokes.........

It is extremely difficult for anyone to get into an "ivy league" school. There are about 3500 four-year colleges in the US and 1.2 million high school graduates each year. The competition at the top 12 or 15 colleges in the US is absolutely insane. Based on your comments that you haven't taken the SAT and that you don't think your score will be that high, I would recommend that you aim a little bit lower. There are hundreds of top colleges in the US, and any one of them will be great for you.

Getting financial aid for international students is very hard. Only a few of the better colleges offer any aid to internationals. However, if you are a "permanent resident - alien" (you have a green card), then you will qualify for normal financial aid just like US citizens. You will complete some forms and based on that, they will decide how much money you can contribute towards your education. The amount they expect you to contribute may be higher than you expect. They base your financial aid on your parent's ability to pay. Also, there is no guarantee that they will fulfill all of your need, but they are pretty good about trying. You shouldn't worry too much about how much the cost of attendance is for the colleges that you apply to. If the college is more expensive, you will just get more financial aid.

The dates for applying to college vary, but it is basically over for this year, especially since you haven't taken the SAT and TOEFL yet. The normal admissions cycle starts in December and January for admission to colleges in the following Fall. You should schedule your SAT and TOEFL tests so that they have been completed by the end of this year, chose which colleges you want to apply to, and then complete those college applications. If you attended high school abroad, you will need to have your high school transcripts sent from the foreign country. The Deadlines will vary from the beginning of December to the middle of March. They will let you know if you have been accepted or not by April 1st. Then classes start at the end of August or the beginning of September.

There is more that I could say, but this should get you started. If you have any questions, ask.

i really thank you guys for taking the time to answer my questions.
but i have been reading a lot about colleges and majors, and i have noticed that going to a good school, affect your career future very much( which is something i don't want to believe), i can go to a state college, but will that be good?!. especially for a business major.

lets say i apply for a top school, without doing any tests, and a recommendation letter for a highly respected christians figure (patriarch), and that i took a leader position, will they throw it away and not even look at it, or they will consider it?
thanks.

every school requires gpa and sat...
expecially, top school's stats are extremely high..
there is nothing easy in the world...

Without doing any tests? I think Bates doesn't request SAT scores, and it's a good school.

They will consider everything you send.

but will my recommendation help?

again..there is nothing easy..!!!
recommendations are only options for the case that someone's stats are similar with yours...
only thing i can say is that study hard!! work hard!!

lets say i went to a community college, while i am there i made the tests i should do, but after that can i transfer to a good school or there is no chance?

It's possible to transfer to a good school. It has been done countless times in the past, so there is a chance.

if i transfer from a community college, i don't have to make the sat2,right?
and hoe is the school i can transfer to from a cc?

i know a lot of questions i am sorry for that.

If you have already finished high school and have not taken the SAT, it is too late to apply for the top universities as you have missed the deadlines.

One option is to start with a community college. If you go to a community college for two years and get very good grades, you don't need to take any SAT to transfer. You still need to take the TOEFL though if English is not your native language.
