Hidden Fees and Costs!! UGH!

I can't believe NYU charged so much extra crap. I got a $900 something cost this semester for Registration and Services? I mean, does that INCLUDE my orientation costs? I thought orientation def. did not cost $900!! And if they're charging that much to REGISTER you into classes, that is so ridiculous! And I think it's so unreasonable for them to make the payment due date August 10th when we don't even know our dorm assignments yet! I mean, our dorm assignments could alter our payments a lot! I'm just really ****ed at the $900 for registration and services though. I wasn't even aware of that.

<a href="http://www.nyu.edu/bursar/FallSpringRates/2005/tuitionFallSpring0506.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.nyu.edu/bursar/FallSpringRates/2005/tuitionFallSpring0506.html</a></p>

It does suck and seem pointless, but it's all there. Some people don't even realize that different schools pay different prices for tuition. Stern is about $220 more than CAS per semester, and Tisch is about $1550 more.

Welcome to New York, my friends.

haha yeah I have $1,150 dollars in fees...now I have to change my tuition payment plan thingy.

the service fee is included in there tuition estimate on the site and such....i dont know why they seperate it as different payments...

i wish they gave those hidden costs when they mailed you the "tuition and living estimates" way back when you first got accepted. seems that after you made your first non-refundable payment, all these extra costs start springing up on you. and what is the service fee for anyway? service for what? being an ass?

i wish they gave those hidden costs when they mailed you the "tuition and living estimates"

the only real new fee is the health insurance, which is optional.... everything else was included in the estimate...i was flipping out at first too, but then i added everything up, and registration fee was inlcuded in tuition, meal plan/food in something else... etc etc

of course you still have to buy books, dorm things, etc etc....but thats everywhere.

is the GSP considered CAS or School of Continuing and Professional Studies? It seems that SCPS is more expensive....hmmmm

Please consider a few of the things that registration fees help provide for students at NYU:

free and unlimited access to the Coles Sports Center and Palladium Gym including the maintenance and up-keep of these facilities

free and unlimited acces to the University Health Center as well as the up-keep of these facilities

technology fees which help cover the cost to operate computer labs on-campus as well as other information services technology (such as wireless capabilities across much of the campus.)

Also, it is true that both the Tisch School and the Stern School have a higher tuition rate then the other undergraduate colleges at NYU. The extra cost at the Stern School is utilized to off-set the cost of allowing the entire junior class to participate in the International Study Project. The additional cost at the Tisch School covers equipment, technology, and studio space expenses that are unique to a school which provides conservatory style artistic training within New York University.
