hidden merit aid

Do anyone have experience with Mizzou's merit aid? Besides the "advertised" automatic and competitive scholarships, is there anything else available for incoming freshman?

Hi, I'm entering Mizzou this fall. Maybe I can help.
I'm not in-state so I can't help much there. I know there's money to be had though. As for OOS, I received the Mark Twain ($5500 renewable). But other than that, nothing from Mizzou for merit. (And I'm no dummy)
I also went to the Financial Aid Offices with my dad, and there are no secret scholarships for smarties. Unless you're a National Merit Finalist...
I might not have told you anything new, but if you have any other questions... : )

I know for Journalism, you get a little more if you qualify to be a Walter Williams Scholar. Other than that, there really isn't that much money for J school that my D and her friends have heard of. There might be for Engineering or other school. Anyone have better info?

There's an Alumni Scholar Program--application deadline around Feb. 1, if I remember correctly. You apply through the Alumni Association, and recipients are chosen by local chapters. You don't have to be a relative of an alum to apply. The amounts are relatively small, but every little bit helps. Otherwise--no, there doesn't appear to be much extra merit money floating around.

They award some MU Grants based on merit, that's for $1,950.
