Hiding a 3?

I got a 3 in Physics B, and a B+ both semesters in the class. Do you think I should hide the 3? Also, will colleges know that I hid the 3, or will it be completely wiped off my record?

How do you hide it? When you send the rest of your AP scores, doesn't it go with them?

Isn't there an option where you pay money to the CB for them to withhold a certain score?

i would like to know as well...

I was under the impression if adcons see an AP class on your schedule and not a score for it, they look at you with a leary eye as if you are trying to hide something, (which you are!)

but wouldnt that be better than showing a 3?

I would think, and have heard, that it is better to be honest and upfront, one 3 isn't going to kill and otherwise good app! Don't be so hard on yourself, being perfect is highly overrated.

GA2012MOM, my fear is that they'll think my AP Physics class grade was heavily inflated, which it wasn't. I just had a real bad test-taking day that day. B+ in an AP class, but only a 3 to show for it, it would appear that the class is very easy/grading is very lenient, which it wasn't. I worked hard for the grade, and I'd hate for an admissions counselor to think that it was an easy class based on one poor test.

Also, I should add, I am very, very far from perfect, don't worry about me :)

its different for me
i got a+ in my classes but have 3s to show for it.
i'm pretty sure that'll make em think that the course was easy.

Well my guess is that if you don't plan on being a physics major or anything closely related that the 3 won't really have a huge negative effect (its still given credit for at some schools), now if you are majoring in physics...who knows, but they do say ap scores are simply for placement

And on that note...my classes must be super hard :-p I had a B+ in Physics B as well but got a 5, and a B-!!! in AP US History and got a 5

Yeah, hiding things is suspicious. Just show them, it's not that big of a deal. Nobody's perfect, geez. A 3 is passing anyway.

feel sorry for the kid in my AP bio class that got an A+ with a 1...o well least i got a 5. in ur case, like an earlier person said, one 3 wont kill u. i mean seriously..if thats wat ur worrying about then i should be shooting myself with an A in APUSH both semesters and a 4..

3 really isn't a bad score.

I'm in the same type of situation where I received two 3s on my first two AP tests, but I got an A and a B in the two classes. However, those classes ( euro & french) were far from being easy! So I certainly don't want adcoms to think there was grade inflation, yet I've decided to still include them on my app. ( when I apply)

(yeah, this may be an idiotic decision, but oh well)

BTW: I will be a junior this fall.

You should not hide scores. The Adcoms will be less suspicious if you did well and bombed the exam, than if you did well and did not provide a score.

you can put whatever you want on your application, but Collegeboard will send all your scores. so, even if you don't report your 3, the college will know that you got it...

it's fine...don't hide it if the rest are 4s and 5s

I don't really associate a school year's worth of work with one test.

As much as it's a 'comprehensive' knowledge of the material, you could have gotten that FR that you had no idea about, while you knew every part of the rest of the material, which could have given you that 3 (or whatever...).

I think a solid A all year is much better option to have than a 4 or 5.

Also, there's that general rule about AP scores on here. High scores can help you, but low ones (even though a 3 isn't that low) won't hurt you.

I had one friend for example who got a 3. We had taken several practice tests and he always got a 5, but I think he mis bubbled.

Don’t hide the 3, it will hurt you more than showing it.
