Since I am in the class of 2012, SAT subject tests are not required. However I still want to do them to spice up my application. What would happen if I got a bad score? Do I have to show it to the UC's, not submit my scores, or just drop it since they don't require it and they would never know that I even took the test? Thanks!

The policy is a bit confusing, so I don’t know for sure. I do not think you would have to submit it though.

You could prevent a bad score by studying for the test and consistently doing well on practice exams. This should assure you a good score (or at least not terrible) and you wouldn’t have to hide anything. I’d think there are few instances in which performance practice tests differs greatly from performance on the actual test.

^What a pointless response … just like mine :P

^What was your response?

Is there a definite answer to his/her question or we going to wonder forever?

Good thing I’m applying for fall 2011 so I KNOW that I have to turn in subject test scores, haha.

Wait, the class of 2012 doesn’t need subject test scores? That can’t be true, can it? Or is it just for certain colleges?

And I think that comment WAS crouch88’s response, haha.

Only the UC changed their policy recently to not require students of 2012 to turn in subject test scores. Other top schools such as CalTech still require them though.
