What are my chances of getting into UCR, Cal State Fullerton, Cal Poly Pomona? (main priority)
intended major computer science but ready to sacrifice a year or two to earn credits and be eligible for this major.
what are some suggestions about majors to select to get in the schools at first, that might make it easier to get in and change major?
For UCR; personal statement; well written and low GPA explained as well.
other privates intended to apply: La Verne, Chapman, Azusa Pacific, La Sierra

open to any suggestions
thank you!

CSU/UC GPA? <a href=“GPA Calculator for the University of California – RogerHub”>http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

Switching into Impacted majors at the CSU’s can be tricky so you are better off applying as a CS major.
CPP will consider your alternate major, not sure about Fullerton.

UCR: High Match
CPP/CSU Fullerton: Match

thank you!

Note that the UC minimum for eligibility for frosh admission is a 3.0 HS GPA (calculated the UC method).

I know but my act, sat and sat 2 scores are comparatively high so I figured I might have a chance.

I don’t think you can’t get into any UC with a sub 3.0 UC GPA. doesn’t matter what your test scores are. The filters will knock you out based on GPA alone.

The Calif publics weigh GPA more than anything else. GPA trumps test scores.

Even the better CSUs won’t accept a sub 3.0 GPA, if I remember correctly. There is probably no way a Cal Poly is going to accept a sub 3.0.

Those privates might accept you. Have your parents said that they will pay for those schools? If not, then those schools may not be affordable.

What do you mean by saying that you’re willing to sacrifice a year or two for a CS major? Will your parents pay for additional school years? Aid at UCs and CSUs are usually limited to 4 years.

You may have to start at a CC and then transfer to a UC or Cal Poly.

Yes if I get into a private school my parents and I are willing to pay for it and by saying that I would sacrifice 1 year of college I mean than I would apply for a computer related major which is not impacted and than fulfil the requirements for my intended major which is approved by my parents as long as I get in the school. ( I am retaking the act in December and hoping to improve my score as well)
