High ACT score- retake or not?

Hey everyone, I scored a 34 on my ACT, which I know is a good score, but on the two practice tests I've taken, I got 35s, and IMO I have a shot at 36. On the practice tests, I scored 36 both times on math, once on reading, and once on science. 35 was my best English, but still, averaging my highest I could get 36. On the actual ACT, I got 35 math, 35 English, 34 science, 33 reading so I think I can at least pull up to a 35 retaking, maybe 36. Should I try or is there really no point?

Try again I think you can get to 35 and super score will help you too.

@IveGotQs: Congratulations on the great score for you ACT. I’m going to disagree with @dadfor2014, and suggest you put the ACT in your rear-view mirror. If you are planning to take SAT Subject tests or the SAT, I would suggest that be your next focus. If you are not planning to take either, then I would suggest focusing on your extra-curriculars and grades. Congratulations again, and good luck!

First of all, most schools do not superscore ACT. If you are thinking about this, check out the short list of schools before retaking it. Second, it would be depending on your schedule. If you have only taken it once and you feel you can improve it, you may retake it but put it at a lower priority. Since you have a pretty good score already, you should be working on the essays, school visits, and applications this Summer. I guess the best time for you to retake would be June 8, which would be after all AP and subject test. You better spend the time in Fall on early application instead of ACT prep. The deadline for 6/8 regular registration will be this week. It seems you are likely to get 35 composite. 36 would be much harder. Good luck and congratulations on your great achievement.

I guess my main question is will a 35 over a 34 make much of a difference as far as top colleges / ivies, or is it more important to focus on EC’s and essays like @ILfather and @billcsho said?

^ Oh no. He’s back.

Just ignore him. LOL.

Just read his comments and literally laughed out loud, haha.
