I took the ACT as a sophomore and got a 34 C 35 E/32 M/34 R/36 S. 23/36 W. I was pretty happy, then I took it again later and got another 34 C 33 E/33 M/35 R/34 S 8/12 W
Both times I took it, I kind of winged it and didn’t study. I was wondering if it is worth it to take it a third time and prepare hard, because right now, both of my writing scores are trash and neither one is really better than the other to submit.
Most schools don’t require SAT subject tests if the applicant takes the ACT. You don’t need to retake. At this point, with two 34s, you might look obsessive.
True, but “strongly recommends” these days seems to be the norm. I think I saw some colleges require two subject tests regardless of whether or not you send in an ACT score (Harvard I think vaguely requires them).
Despite the fact I personally retook the ACTs multiple times after I got a 34 the first time. I wouldn’t recommend taking it again unless you study until the point you are sure you’ll score 35-36. Again, 34 is pretty high already, it would be a waste of time unless you plan on super scoring.
