Hey guys, I want to go to UNC, but my grades are like A’s and B’s. My ACT is now a 33. And I’m in the chess club, track and service club. 70 service hours. Recommendation is pretty good and essays good. I go to a private catholic school and I’m asian American. What are my chances? Need some real answers here please!
I’m also in Kentucky, so I’m a OOS. I’m in 2 A.P courses and 8 honors. I’m a junior. Some help will be great! Also, is UNC really THAT competitive?
For OOS-yes. Super competitive.
Are you a junior in HS? I would probably take the ACT once more but if your score does not increase it’s fine; a 33 is very good and will not be what keeps you out. How is your class rank? Does your school have Naviance? I would focus on EC’s, leadership, community service and making sure your essays and letters of recommendation are outstanding. UNC is very competitive for OOS students, but the 18% OOS acceptance does not seem to be set in stone (I thought it was but evidently this year it was a little higher).
I know my grades are not that good, but I also own and registered under my own name a graphic design print company, a LLC. Will making small businesses and websites make me stand out? Also, I am a good track runner with a 4 Minute and 30 second mile, can I get a track scholarship to UNC? Is this all good?
Also, my school does not have class rank, since everybody’s grades are really good, so they don’t report class rank.
