High End Dorms

We’re a full pay family, which will put us in a high SES, but we are not able to afford the full EFC for our kids. They will have to choose the cheap side housing because that’s what we would be able to afford for them. I’m sure there are a lot of families just like us out there. I’m not at all worried about that. Two of my three kids attend academy programs in Title 1 schools - there’s a huge variety of backgrounds in the programs. Some kids are 1 percenters, some have both parents incarcerated and are living in foster homes. The academic focus of the program and the opportunities that the kids do together make those distinctions moot. My son has friends from all income strata, they find a way to work out issues when they want to do things socially and one kid can’t afford it. I would hope this is the same sort of thing that would continue in colleges.
