I got a 35 in English and an 8 in writing??? WTF???
The first time I took the ACT, I got a 34 in English and a 10 in writing. I bs’ed my essay, incorporating a bunch of philosophy terminology and stuff about solipsism. This time, I tried to follow the “formula” and did 2 pro paragraphs, 1 con paragraph, transitions, etc… I’m honestly quite shocked since I consider myself a good writer. What will colleges think of this…? Will it hurt me by a lot?
8 is not a low score. And 35 is terrific. It will not hurt you.
you don’t think they’ll wonder why my writing score is so low compared to my English score? Apparently an 8 is like the 86th percentile, while 35 is the 99th… ugh why is the writing portion a thing x.x
D got a 36 in English and an 8 in writing the first time she took the test, too. It didn’t seem to be a problem when she applied to her favorite school ED. (She was able to raise that writing score the second time she took the ACT…but her English subscore went down. Testing really is a crapshoot sometimes.)
