High GPA and "LOW" ACT for Top Unis

Hi guys! I am very worried about college apps (like most people here?)

I applied to Yale SCEA, and I know that is crazy given my stats. I will find out about the decision in about 2.5 weeks. Expecting denial/deferral, but I’m hoping for the stars to align!

Anyway, I would love to know what you guys think about my chances for admittance.
I already have about 14+ apps ready to send off if Yale is a no (since I’m expecting it will be).

Stats:
-School: Rigorous, Highly Ranked Private School in Large City (about 15-20% to Ivys, top LACs etc.)
-GPA: (School doesn’t do traditional weighted) 4.05/4.0 (extra little bits for A+s)
-Class Rank: School does not rank, but top 5 in class (Cum Laude inductee)
-ACT: 32 (R 35, E 34, S 30, M 29) 11 Essay --> single sitting (I AM AWFUL AT MATH!)
-SAT: N/A
-SAT 2: Math 1: 740 (hopefully this shows I am kinda competent in math?), World History 710 (not submitted to most)
-APUSH: 5 --> (School does not offer AP/IB, instead all classes are at “Honors” level but took APUSH anyway.)

Extracurriculars:

  • Lit Mag Editor (3 years)
  • Yearbook Editor
  • Class President
  • Model UN VP (2 years) member 4 years
  • President of another important club at school that would give away my identity so I will leave this be (3 years)
  • Admissions Ambassador
  • 500 hours community service
  • Varsity Field Hockey
  • Arabic Cub (FOUNDER --> in partnership with a city organization)
  • Peer Tutor
  • Job at Catering Company
  • Creator of Food Blog with thousands of views (more of just a hobby though)

Languages: English, Spanish (spoken at home), German (spoken at home), Arabic (spoken at home)
(semi interesting family background, hard to explain, addressed in common app)
-Spanish, Italian, and Arabic classes in school
(APPLIED AS A MODERN MIDDLE EASTERN STUDIES MAJOR)

Awards/ Recognitions:

  • National Spanish Exam Bronze
  • School English Award/ Scholarship
  • Scholastic Art and Writing Awards- regional (20): 3 Gold, 11 silver, 6 HM
  • Cum Laude Member
  • 6 Published Poems (3 different magazines- regional publications)

Summers:

  • Competitive Paid internship at Hospital
  • Intensive Arabic Classes
  • Internship at Legal Aid Office
  • Service Trip to South America (Month) --> language immersion
  • Writing Camp through Scholastic Competition

Essays:

  • Common App Essay: 9/10 Growing up in a community with a distorted view of my religion and ethnic identity (counselor loved it?)
  • Recommendations: 9/10 Should be really great, both teachers can talk about me outside of the classroom and my character. One of my teachers wrote my speech for cum laude so I know it will be great!
-Supplement Essays: 9/10 I really poured my heart into them. One I used for multiple apps is about my relationship with my Afghani sister and how she taught me about the world/ furthered my passion for Arabic.

I don’t know if this helps but I attended some competitive fly in programs at top LAC’s (NESCACs). Since I got into these programs with ~10% acceptance rates (focusing on diversity recruitment) does this foreshadow onto other college decisions?

I am applying to:

Yale (SCEA), Wellesley (EE), Princeton, Brown, UPenn (legacy), Dartmouth, Amherst, Swarthmore, Bowdoin, Pomona, Georgetown, Johns Hopkins, Kenyon, Macalester, Mount Holyoke, and possibly Harvard.

PLEASE COMMENT! I CAN USE THE HONEST HELP!

Thanks a ton!

Legacy doesn’t help upenn in RD ( I’m also legacy applying RD) your test scores are low for almost all of these schools, and idk if your EC’s will be enough to have them accept you Over a kid with a 36. Good luck.

Yes, I know my scores are low for most of the Ivys. I go to a feeder school for Penn (about 10% of students go each year), so hopefully this helps.

For Georgetown, is a 32 sufficient? I have heard mixed responses about this.

its sufficient yes, but to make yourself more competitive a 33+ would help.
