High GPA and still rejected?

why don’t you just list the courses name of your non xfer classes. I’m pretty positive that non transfer classes are not factor into consideration.

@sea

well let me know if you get in or not. if you do get in then that might be a good sign for me.

@pavin: Hmm well, as my counselors said, as long as your CC accepts that AP score in place of an IGETC requirement + you are IGETC certified by the end of the spring before transfer, all is good, even for CAL. I hope they are right about this ;-;

Yeah in at SB & I… ): I’m really surprised you haven’t heard back from either yet! ): oh man I had no idea that even SB & Irvine are so strict about the math & English requirements… good luck! ): Have you tried talking to your counselor about this? Although I’m not sure what good it will do since it’s quite late already… ahh again ): so sorry you haven’t heard anything yet. I would be in such agony as well T^T Did you do TAG for either?

Oh yeah! My counselor also told me that those who completed the Honors Program at their school + if their school has some sort of “guarentee” contract with UCI, those applicants will always be notified of their decision in the first batch. I guess that answers why a lot of people haven’t heard back yet… ):

@sunnybanana
I am tagged at UCSD, which I called and they did say they took my 3 to fulfill that English requirement. However I’m prettttyy sure Cal only accepts a 4(did you see that on the breadth req update?)
I’m pretty sure if you’ve been accepted you are totally good to go on that requirement.

Oh insider secret, I was totally worried and talked to the counsellor at UCSD. I asked if she could check if I missed any update of any kind. She said no looks like they just haven’t gotten to reviewing it! Maybe a good sign?? She also said they do acceptances as they come in, they don’t accept super competitive apps first and so on just turns out that way…

Sorry to worry you banana, hopefully we will all get into our dream schools and meet up there!

Maybe it’s your AP credits. Different UC’s give different amount of units for your AP exams. The amount of credit you get from your CC is not the same amount you get from a UC. List your AP exams and scores so we can see if you really got ~10 units for them.

@pavin: yeah at first I thought CAL only accepted 4 & 5s for the AP test but I looked around CAL & the UC system’s website and they say that as long as we are IGETC certified (cos there’s a difference between IGETC and individual campus breadth requirements), 3s are okay. The CAL and honors counselor told me the exact same thing. Yeah, CAL would not accept a 3 if you were trying to complete their requirements rather than the IGETC.

[Office of Undergraduate Advising: Summary of Degree Requirements](http://ls-advise.berkeley.edu/requirement/summary.html)

ahh it sounds like good news (: it has to be true cos a whole range of applicants have been accepted or rejected.

;-; yes I hope our dreams come true too sob sob

@Sunnybanana; omg you are fantasssstic!!! Have you sent your AP scores to your CC?

I was sooo depressed, my hope has been renewed :)

@pavin: yeah~ :smiley: that’s how I was able to fulfill igetc’s freshman english req

you know you could just give one call and might solve the problem?

So I know for sure all the Claremont schools (Claremont Mckenna, Pomona, Harvey Mudd etc) are still accepting applications until April 1st as well as Scripps, LaVerne, University of the Pacific. I also know Columbia is taking apps until June 1st. Also Cal State Channel Islands and Cal State East Bay are still accepting apps.

I’m sure there are more if you do some research. Anyways, hope this is helpful for some you! Try and stay positive!

You can check here to which schools are still taking apps

https://www.commonapp.org/SearchEngine/SimpleSearch.aspx</a></p>

I have no desire to attend any of those schools. Only a handful of schools have my area of study unless I go outside Cali which would be impossible right now.

I’ve made amends with my rejection though still somewhat bitter.

@SFKid
Wait are you saying you have less than 60 units? If so, then its autoreject because it is a minimum requirement… And you only fell short by like 3…

i would have 60+ units completed by end of Spring 2012.

@SanFranciscoKid Did you finish both Math and English requirements prior to spring? If not I was told it will count strongly against you.

@sound

no. i had one more english left and then math. all other areas of IGETC was met by the end of fall.

@SFKid just being sure i have this right. you are confused why you were rejected from UCSB after applying with only 57 units, the basic english AND math requirements not finished and waiting to take the one prereq offered in your area until this semester?

^lol… Yeah my thoughts exactly

I see the bar has been raised for d-bag behavior on this site. Seriously people creating different logins? Your cool.

@SFK: Sorry to hear it but just try enrolling back in your CC and taking courses for next semester I’m sure you’ll definitely get in. Best Wishes

is this a joke? is the forum moderated at all?
