High GPA but Low Tests-Chance please?-Will chance back

I am in my Senior year, taking the hardest classes possible, actually going beyond what the school would have originally aloud me to do, which would have been a limit of 4 AP classes, but taking 5. I have an upward trend. Bowdoin is my top school and I would like to apply ED to it, but I am not sure if it would be a waste of ED. I know my test scores are not good, so I will not be submitting.

I am looking at: I know this is a lot, but I will be getting rid a lot of them, maybe keeping around 6 or so. I know a lot of the schools on here are a too out of reach, but which ones would I have a better chance at or even a chance at all?
Williams
Amherst
Bowdoin(EDI)
Colby(EDII?)
Colgate
Middlebury(EDII?)
Bates
Tufts
Davidson
Carleton
Claremont Mckenna
Pomona
Pitzer

Manly applying just because Im in state:
UCLA
UCSD
UCB
UCI

I am also ELC(top 4%)
School doesn't rank though, so I am not sure what my rank is out of ~360

Does anyone have any suggestions for schools that are SAT/ACT optional or schools that are like the ones listed above?

Any other suggestions?

*I am looking to major in Bio/chem/pre-med

I have been taking the most rigorous courses provided at my school

My cumulitive GPA for Sophomore year to now:
Unweighted-~3.8
Weighted-~4.38-4.40

SAT-1800(not using)
ACT-28
E-28/M-27/R-30/S-26
(Most likely not going to submit to SAT/ACT optional schools, suggestions for schools that are SAT optional?)

SAT II
Chem-650
Math IIC-610
* I will be retaking these, hopefully getting 650-700+

AP's
Not so great
World History-3
Chem-2
US History-2
English-2

EC's
Volleyball for 2 years-JV
Cross Country-3 years JV
Swim-1 year-JV(will be moving to Varsity level this year)
Key Club-3 years

Senior Year Course Load
AP Biology
AP Physics
AP Gov/econ
AP English
AP Calc
Social Justice(first semester)
Philosophy(Second Semester)

Some of those schools you listed require SAT or ACT, so I would consider retaking that instead of your SAT II’s because SAT is more important. Your extracurricular activities are not that strong either and I doubt paintball tournaments count as “extracurriculars.” You have an ok amount of community service hours and a very good gpa but it would be tough getting into alot of those colleges you listed, especially pomona, and mckenna.

Although your ACT is a bit low, your GPA is stellar and you’ve got great ECs, making the UC’s very possible. I’m not going to lie to you, though. Amherst and Williams are a bit out of reach unless you get those test scores up.
With that said:

Williams - reach
Amherst - reach
Bowdoin(EDI) - low reach because of ED?
Colby(EDII?) - not familiar, sorry
Colgate - match
Middlebury(EDII?) - not familiar
Bates - match
Tufts - low reach
Davidson - not familiar
Carleton - not familiar
Claremont Mckenna - NF
Pomona - NF
Pitzer - NF
UCLA - match
UCB - match
UCSD - low match
UCI - in, srsly…

Ya, I already knew that Williams and Amherst would be my “out of reach” schools. I really like Williams alot, so I will take a chance with it(if I dont get ED to Bowdoin or Colby). Wouldnt 28 still be considered really low on the ACT for UCLA and UCB?

bump
bump bump

Because of your SAT scores, UCLA and the top LACs will be reaches. If you manage to pull your scores up, then you have a decent shot at all of those colleges.

BUMP pleasee

we all kneel at the alter of the sats your are decent perhaps shift focus to a diffrent set of schools think upper level state schools like ohio state and asu uofa chance me back. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1033113-chance-me-ill-chance-you-back.html

Williams - High Reach
Amherst - High Reach
Bowdoin(EDI) - Low Reach (if ED)
Colby(EDII?) - Not sure
Colgate - High Match
Middlebury(EDII?) - Low Reach
Bates - High Match
Tufts - Reach
Davidson - Not sure
Carleton - Not sure
Claremont Mckenna - Low Reach
Pomona - Low/Mid Reach
Pitzer - High Match/Low Reach
UCLA - Low Reach
UCB - Reach
UCSD - High Match
UCI - Low Match

The lack of leadership in your ec’s as well as your low test scores (especially with a decent GPA) on SAT, ACT, SAT II, and AP tests are troubling. I would advise retaking the SAT I or ACT. Good luck!

I can only say for UC’s
Berkeley- reach
LA-maybe
SD-maybe-probably
Irvine-probably

I’m applying to those four too

Williams - reach
Amherst - reach
Bowdoin(EDI) - low reach
Colby(EDII?) - eh
Colgate - eh
Middlebury(EDII?) - eh
Bates - match
Tufts - high match
Davidson - high match
Carleton - eh
Claremont Mckenna - reach
Pomona - reach
Pitzer - low reach
UCLA - match/high match
UCB - high match
UCSD - in
UCI - in

Williams- high reach
Amherst- high reach
Bowdoin(EDI)- mid reach
Colby(EDII?)- low reach
Colgate- low reach
Middlebury(EDII?)- high reach
Bates- low reach
Tufts- mid reach
Davidson- mid reach
Carleton- mid reach
Claremont Mckenna- mid reach
Pomona- high reach
Pitzer- match

Manly applying just because Im in state:
UCLA- mid reach
UCSD- high match
UCB- mid reach
UCI- safety (since you are ELC, but will not guarantee major?)

Imo, you have 2 match schools on your list, Pitzer and UCSD, and 1 safety school listed, UCI (ELC). Even at an SAT optional school, your EC’s are really “thin”. Your course rigor and GPA are GREAT but, unfortunately all your test scores will not make you very competitive at the vast majority of schools on your list. Apply to some of your low reach and a mid-reach or two, but I would definitely apply to some of the other UC’s where you are ELC eligible, such as UCD and UCSB, so you have some additional options. Good luck!

I am actually applying to UCD and UCSB, I didn’t knot that UCI is part of ELC though. I am actually quite content with UCD, but I would like to go to an LAC more. I will try my best to bring my ACT up in december, as well as SAT subjects.

Don’t forget to enter your ELC number on the UC application. I’d also consider UCSC if I were you. It has a LAC feel and it is in a great area of Northern CA! If you haven’t been up there, go check it out. If I didn’t already live in Orange County, I would love UCI. Great area, a stones throw to Newport Beach…
