You need to raise your SATs less for Berkeley and UCLA since you're in-state.

But you need at least 300-400 points more just to be competitive at the others. And competitive only puts them all at reaches instead of impossibles.

ok.. besides the SATs.. as i know i need to raise it 300+ points..

what can i do??

btw.. i need some more safeties and either more matches if its possible :]

Marist will probably be too small and rural for you then. Poughkeepsie is classified as a city, but its not urban at all. Sorry I couldn't help you more...

its all good thanks anyways

BUMP! to the TOP!

i am interested in business as well (international in fact) and i fell in love with michigan state university... it has a good business program and is a great school. also, they WANT out of staters, so maybe you should apply here in addition to UMich. Also, as a safety for you, people told me to look at UIndiana at Bloomington- it is reputable in business and you could probably get in with scholarsgips since they'd want you... yeah so just thought i'd give u those safeties...

Honestly I think you're pretty good for the UCs, as long as you are top 4% of your class.

alright thanks guys.

I actually talked to a recent Penn student that was just accepted a few years back. He said I could be competitive if I wrote a "desirable" essay along with a 2100 SAT score.

bump someone else chacne me ;]

Q: Was the "REJECT" in capital letters necessary?

A: "Unlikely"

i would take whatever people say on here with a mound of salt. They arent addmissions officers, and sats are only 1 part of the whole picture. Try the act also. Ive seen people get into uc Berkeley with 1050/1600, so dont count yourself out just on sats.

Practice on using your time wisely and get that 2400!

i will be practicing... but castel and chocolatealtoids.. what are my chances for the schools listed excluding SAT momentarily.

I only know about the UC's and I'll say that you won't get into Cal or UCLA based on your SAT subject tests.

For example, your math is exceptionally low, raise it; try to at least get your subject tests in the 700 range at least.

Also, a 4.41 UC GPA is pretty extraordinary, are you sure you calculated it correctly? Only 8 semesters of Honors/APs are admitted, the rest are scaled down to unweighted grading.

ok well.. i got the UC gpa directly off my high school web directory so i know that is accurate.

I do know that my SAT ii's are low.. however i feel that if i work on it then i could get 700+ for both chem and math. I feel very confident on that. I'm more unsure about the SAT1s.

Regardless if his 4.41 UC GPA is unlikely, he's still ELC, and I think he has a great shot at Cal and LA because of that. I've seen more than one person with much lower SAT 1/2s get into LA and Cal. What we tend to hear about these schools is the average, but in all honesty, if everyone scored 700+ to get in, we wouldn't have an average that's still in the mid 600s for Math and such. To say that the lower end is occupied by URMs doesn't nearly account for most of the stellar scores others are getting. If the OP can raise them, it would be great for his other schools. Otherwise, I'd still stand by what I say in that he has a significant chance at getting into the top UCs.

thanks peppers.. yeah i just checked it

this is exactly what it says: "10-12 (Univ Cal A-E): 4.4100"

and "Rank: 23/549".. I was off by 6 persons :[

either way, i am in the top 4 percent therefore ELC.

I do appreciate that you feel i have an adequate chance at UCLA and CAL. Before making a post in this forum, I thought i would have a GREAT chance at UCLA and CAL while others did not feel the same way. Regardless, I also want to know what my target threshold of SAT and SAT iis are for Columbia, Penn, and also Dartmouth and Cornell.

btw.. I will be ED'ing Penn(Wharton) regardless because i love the school and i will regret it for the rest of my life if i didn't try, although i understand chances are slim.

ELC? I thought Cal, UCLA, and SD don't do ELC, or am I mistaken.

no ELC = all UCs. so what do u think my chances are now?

First, define what ELC is. Is it the 4% class rank thing?
