How would a student with high scores (SAT 2400, SAT II all ~800, 6 APs all 5's) and a high GPA (4.0 uw, 4.8 w) fare in admissions, if s/he has few ECs (a couple club memberships, one minor leadership position) and few awards (other than the typical NMSF, Honor Roll, etc.)?

Specifically, at HYPS? What about at lower ivies like Brown/Dartmouth/Cornell? At other top universities like Northwestern/Hopkins/Etc.?

There isn’t as big of a difference between HYP and Darmouth and Brown as there used to be. 6/7 percent vs. 8/9 percent. Cornell land grant schools are easier but not CAS. All of these top schools want significant ECs. You’ll have better luck with schools ranked 10-20.

My sister was in a similar position as you (though lower SAT) and she ended up getting dinged from Penn, Cal Tech, and a couple other schools in that range. She ended up a pretty good public univ. For the top schools, ECs matter. And not just a laundry list of ECs, but ECs where you have demonstrated impact.
