kidding right?..unless ur ECs are out of this world and ur amazing at a sport good luck…GPA is just a factor and SATs are another factor together they make about 45-50% of ur application rest is personality, interview, essay, and volunteering/involvement with community…

anyways didnt mean to hurt you but its the honest truth…good luck…most of those schools arent even considered my safety…or even what im shooting for..then again im pretty wellrounded.

I gotta say, that response was:
a) confusing
b) arrogant
c) off topic

Study for your SATs, that’s all you can do. You have the ability. A 2100 is not impossible for you.

If you are a California resident, then it is hardly impossible for you to reach your top schools, as long as your rank is decent. Just retake your SATs and do a little better.

Reach: UCSD, UCLA,
Good Match: UCI, UCSB, UCD, Cal Poly SLO
Safety: CSUN, Cal poly pomona

I’d say this list you’ve put together is right on. A 4.33 is an outsanding gpa and an 1860 is a pretty good SAT. Definitely good enough for the mid-UC’s/CP with that gpa you have.

I agree that with a bit more studying you will be able to get your SAT’s a little higher. Congratulations on you gpa. That’s awesome and definitely something to be proud of. Don’t let others bring you down. Good luck you will do just fine. Apply and you’ll be pleasantly surprised

Don’t worry. 2 Good Matches’ll materialize and all safeties. You can attend a UC and transfer to UCSD or UCLA if you study hard at UC-Irvine or UC-Goleta.

omg jb98021781. I HAVE ALMOST THE EXACT SAME SCORES/GPA AS YOU! AND WE’RE APPLYING TO SIMILAR COLLEGES lol.

GPA: 4.2
SAT: 1870
SAT2: Math2 720, US History 650

Crapload of EC stuff.

But yeah wow this is awesome!

I really wanna get into UCSD or UCLA, but you’re right. The SAT I score is a real bummer. My friends and counselor told me that I’m definitely in the SD, LA scope, but we’re still competing against those who had better scores and got rejected from Berkeley and what not.

But i think you should still give them a shot. Everyone has a shot, so why not take it?

I really want to go to UCSD too! we are definately similar…except for my Math 2 score…that was a dud.

ya I am crossing our fingers, for both of us.

o and here is my EC stuff

I just realized this was in the wrong category…oops.

I’ve asked several admissions reps about SAT, and they told me that they would much rather see high GPA and low SAT than the other way around. Colleges understand that some people are bad test takers, and a 3 hour test should not outweigh four years of high school. With that being said, you might want to retest since SAT is still an important factor especially to the schools you’re applying to.

Actually, UCLA, and more so SD, will (unfortunately) often forgive a slightly subpar SAT for a 4.33. I know several people with almost that exact SAT/GPA combo in UCLA, and with worse in San Diego. Your appraisal of your chances is dead on.

Yeah, I’m in a similar perdicament. My GPA is really high but my SATs are a little above average. My GPA weighted is 4.61 9-11th grades and my SAT I is in the 1800s, which is above average. I’m applying to those schools and my guidance counselor and college counselors have said that it’s not that much of a stretch because I have really good extra curricular work, leadership skills, and GPA.

Eh.
You can’t really categorize SATs/GPA as being worth this percentage of the consideration, etc… it’s more a curve thing with each higher percentile giving you a higher chance of admissions…
Yeah, your SATs are pretty bad, but you’re instate and your GPA is good so it’s not like Ambitiousteen said, I think he was just trying to be mean ;)
