High grades, ECs, etc, but average SAT scores

Would a person be doomed for junior year transfer to a top school (i.e. U Chicago, Columbia, Stanford, basically any school with top econ programs) if they had an excellent academic record and extra-curriculars, but average SAT scores?

i.e. 3.8-4.0 GPA, excellent ECs, work experience, but 50% SAT scores

SAT scores are rarely part of the equation for transfers. The three most important criteria: 1) transcript with good grades & challenging courses at a well-regarded school, 2) extracurriculars with an emphasis on leadership and career interest, and 3) exceptional and well-written essays that show who you are beyond the other information in the application. Also, you should consider schools where the transfer acceptance rate is at least 30% or better and if you have a specific college in mind, you might start creating a relationship with the person(s) in charge of transfers in the admissions office and/or the transfer counselor who will be glad to answer all of your questions. A fourth consideration might be the recommendation from a professor at your current school which will attest to your intellectual curiosity.

Thank you for the thorough response
