<p>I used to think I was a good student.... until i started reading theses threads... Now I'm having EXTREME second thoughts about my college choices... But I'm hoping someone on here can prove me wrong! (BTW colleges listed last) So here are my horrible stats!:</p>

<p>First let me start off by saying that I moved after 8th grade and was still in my "mad at the world" stage throughout 9th grade so my grades for that year are not by any means top tier quality. Thus my gpa 1st semester being a 3.14 ( 4 B's 2 A's and 1 C [completely legit explanationation i assure you]) and 2nd semester cending with a 3.29 gpa (2A's 5 B's)</p>

<p>Gender: Female
Ethnicity: African American
Location: Near Atlanta Georgia
Grade: Rising Junior</p>

<p>GPA: Culmative - 3.52
10th grade- 3.83 (Both semesters)(6 A's 1 B)
No SAT's or ACT's yet but my PSAT was so horrible I wont even mention it and plan on studying wicked hard for the real deal (2100+).</p>

<p>Junior year planned Schedule: (plan on gettin straight A's, senior year too)
AP Statistics
AP Lit
AP Calc AB
Ap US History
AP Chem
Spanish
Band
Study Hall -- is this bad? I just didnt know how overwhelmed I would feel taking 5 AP classes and having band practice everyday after school as well as other school activities(clubs). Everyone I've told that I'm taking 5 AP's thinks I'm crazy! Even the super smart kids!</p>

<p>EC (By the end of Junior year--- not too many under my belt so far)
Marching Band
Marching band lieutenant
National Honor Society
Interact-- service club
Rosseta Society (for students interested in learning experiences outside the classroom)
Volunteer at hospital
Martial arts
Science club</p>

<p>Future plans: I would like to major in biochemistry and go on to med school and become a medical scientist</p>

<p>Ok, so finally we get to the intended colleges!</p>

<p>Upenn---- MEGA reach?
Cornell---- high reach?
JHU---reach?
University of Maryland--- safety?</p>

<p>Also Suggestions wanted! Need lots more matches/safties! Northeastern area please!(NY, PA, MD, DC)</p>

<p>I think that if you work really hard junior and senior year to maintain those GPAs, you’ve got just as much of a chance as anyone. And, not to be be blunt, but the fact that you’re a minority student is definitely in your favor. Just do your best: you’re taking challenging classes and have really solid ECs. Best of luck!</p>

<p>yea… any other takers… in order to get people to chance you do you have to chance other people? If so that doesnt make much sense because if I could chance other people then I could chance myself and would have this thread…</p>
