high paying jobs on campus?

my friend at ucsd is getting 16.40/hr for a job on campus based on class standing...she is senior standing which is why she is getting so much money and she said its basically an assistant job. does ucla have any jobs based on class standing? or are there any jobs that pay relatively well, maybe about 10 bucks an hour?

a good number of work-study jobs pay around $10/hr.

isnt work-study for financial aid students?

yea it is.
there's a call center job for ~$10/hr.. you call and ask for donations

Access isn't too bad.

The hours are just fuxxored bad.

I heard that they give all the good jobs to work/study students first. What about the rest of us? Do you think there will be decent jobs left?

Aren't the late night sign-in gigs pretty chill? You get paid decent and you can just sit there and do homework during downtime?

how do you get "access" jobs? Do you have to speak with the manager of the dorm or someone working at front desk?

automath,

Go to Covel Commons and ask for an app. From there, you just turn it into any of the Access desks and hope you get called for an interview!

Cardinal,

Access is okay if you can do late nights. If not, you're basically a perpetual zombie. I never got much homework done, to be honest, as I usually ended up talking with my coworker (or had my coworker talking to me.) Life was a little better as a supervisor, but that meant a lot more behind the scenes BS to deal with. Oh, and politics. The wonderful work politics. Ugh.

UCLAri, how much is the pay if you don't mind me asking? Feel free to PM me on that one. Oh and do you know if the pay is standard across the board at all UCs?

****, I wanted to apply to access at Hedrick because I was there so often. They said they only take UCLA students though :(

Cardinal,

Access Control, as it exists at UCLA, is a UCLA-only thing. Last I checked (it's been well over a year), Access paid around $9 an hour for swipers, and around $11 for sups.

Ahhh, I guess its called something different at my UC? IDK...

But damn, thats pretty good pay. Beats working at Bruin Cafe or Puzzles. ha

You can always get a library job for $7/hr. Good stuff.

i heard parking pays well? and u get preference for permits? any truth?

I have also heard that UCLA Parking Services pays well (~$15/hour).

How much do jobs in the computer labs pay?

Thanks for the info guys. I hope I don't have to work in the dining halls again

what are "access" jobs?

people who sit and guard the residence halls at night and make you swipe in

Are acess jobs open to freshmen or are they given to third and fourth year students
