<p>Right, but Access Control makes sure that it stays that way -- lazy students sometimes prop the doors open with objects so that they wouldn't need to swipe in. However, that invokes all sorts of security loopholes for intruders, so Access Control stands guard to make sure the doors are closed by default unless they are propped open for a legitimate reason (e.g. Move-in Week) and to visually confirm that everyone entering the dorms late at night is actually a UCLA student. :rolleyes:</p>
