High Point or Seton Hall?

Hi I got into High Point University and Seton Hall university and I am curious what people regard as a better school from a business undergraduate. Which school will give me the best career opportunities? I am also curious which one has the best social life and the best night life…? Really enjoy anyones opinion on either of these schools and if you can give me an idea on how they stack up next to each other?

Seton Hall is better on all fronts, easily. High Point is a country club where they pamper their students. You are much better off attending Seton Hall.

I’d probably put them as pretty even. High Point may have the edge socially as Seton Hall has a fair percentage of commuters. If you want to learn about career opportunities maybe contact the career placement office at both schools to try to get some information.

Agree with happy1. I’ve known several kids who transferred out of Seton Hall due to lack of weekend activity. I think both run pretty close academically.

I’d say Seton Hall is academically stronger, even if only slightly.

According to College Navigator, most Seton Hall students (65%) are New Jersey residents. And since Seton Hall is located in the most populated part of a geographically small state, most of those NJ students probably live within commuting distance of the campus. In this situation, you might expect a large percentage of the student body to go home on nights and weekends. In general, the social scene at a campus tends to suffer if there are large numbers of commuters.

At High Point, most of the students (80%) come from outside North Carolina (either from other states or foreign countries). You can reasonably assume that they are sticking around the campus on nights and weekends, because it’s too far to go home. So it’s probably more of a traditional residential college experience, with better social life.

I was purposefully vague about the commuters – Seton Hall says 80% of freshman live on campus, but the number of students living on campus may drop way off after freshman year. I don’t know for sure. In any event, it is something for the OP to consider and research especially since he/she is interested in having a good social life. https://www13.shu.edu/about/fast_facts.cfm

Seton Hall’s student organizations include the “Commuter Student Council”

Most High Point students actually come from the Northeast. However, they’re not the kinds of students, academically or otherwise, that Duke or Wake Forest attract, or even the types that UNCW or Elon attract.

I’d much rather attend Seton Hall for my money. And that’s saying something.

@masonsmerl99 : are you a transfer student or have you been admitted off the waitlist? Haven’t you gotten into any public university, whether in NJ or in NC?
