Does Elon have an Interior Design program? If so, how does it compare to that of High Point’s?

Does anyone have any insight on what HPU and Elon offer in regards to sport scholarships - women’s soccer or track? 5K, 10K, nothing, etc? Thanks

I was not impressed with Elon when I visited. I thought it was dirty, old and I did not get the depth of information I was looking for in regards to academics. I also did not like the idea of spending the $ for 4 years for my child to be living in a construction zone with all the projects they are doing. As of last July they slated many of them to be complete by 2015. It was far too long for me to wait.

On the other hand HPU is beautiful but I agree with much of what is posted on here. My daughter was accepted, went to scholarship weekend and was given a decent scholarship. All in all she just could not shake a weird vibe she got off all the quasi perfection. It just felt too strange for her after her 3rd visit down. It just was not the place for her.

As far as the academics… I have no doubt that they are trying to make things better and work to raise their standards. Looking back at least 5 years on old comments and threads online. Unfortunately everyone keeps saying that the bar is being raised and it will get the academics kudos etc… Unfortunately, it just hasn’t happened and I worry as I see the same comments posted year after year when exactly it will happen.

I think they have the right idea but this is going to be a far longer process than I had expected. I wish the much success but I don’t see that climb of academic respect coming for a few more years at best.

@fastcar, I can’t speak at all for Elon but with highpoint I know to get “real” money you would have to be recruited as it’s a DI sports school. My D was interested in cheer and was told she would get a sports stipend, (only a few thousand I believe) HOWEVER, she would only be eligible to take the sports OR the academic $ not both. Had she chosen to go to High Point, her academic money was much for significant so for her the sports money made no difference

I had VERY limited dealings with the money issue with sports at this school but figured I’d share what little I knew.

I have found the academic experience for my son and niece at HPU to be wonderful. My niece has had internships through business school and my son talks about how many of his professors are challenging, yet they also seem to make time to mentor him with scheduling and career advice. When I picked my son up at the end of the semester, I noted that they continue to hire faculty (from Duke, Johns Hopkins, Stanford) and those faculty will be teaching students. My family has benefitted from the faculty at HPU

High Point declares openly that it is a United Methodist school, which is Christian denomination.

Clemson University does not charge anything extra for credits over 16 a semester!
