High SAT 2/ACT scores but Low GPA. What are my chnaces???

<p>Hi there, here my STats. Pls do tell me if I have a chance/shot at Yale at all. Thank You!!!</p>

<p>my GPA (Unweighted) is relatively low: 3.5/4.0</p>

<p>Here are my STATS
SAT: 1490
SAT Subject Test: USH/bio/Math2 = 800/800/780
ACT: 36
Junior year GPA: 3.8/4.0
Freshman/Sophomore GPA: Not sure But I guess around 3.7
Senior GPA: 3.4-3.5
Senior Course Load: AP Gov/Spansih 2H/AP Bio/AP Physics B/AP Calculus BC/AP English Lit = A/A/A+/B or C+/B or C+/B or C+ ( not sure at the moment
E/C: International Forensics Tournament (3rd Place)/ Excellent Rating at Music assessment for piano/ State Netball Player/ 2nd in Law Mock Trial (11)/State, Science Fair/National Level Science Competition ( Back in my home country)
Community service: Unicef Volunteer (summer) about 75+ Hours/ Cleveland Clinic volunteer(75+ Hours)/ Home for the special Kids (200+)/ Tutor Rural Malaysian Kids ( 309h)/Other school Volunteer services
Ethnicity: Malaysian nationality but race: Ceylonese ( Sri lankan)</p>

<p>Essay: I think it is good. Talked about my culture and also a small cultural revolution in my country that shaped my perspective about the politics and ethics in my country and also politics in general
RECs: Teacher and counselor RECs are great.</p>

<p>So the discrepancy in my transcript i.e. the possible C is due to me being sick most of the first quarter of my senior year (bumpp) but it only affected some not all, i.e. The Physics, CAlc BC and I think AP English</p>

<p>I was just wondering what are my chances at Yale university. Pls do be honest. I really want to hear from different people what my chances are. Thank you</p>

<p>It’s going to be hard for you with that GPA and no hooks (being Asian does not help :(). Nevertheless, if your school is very competitive and you’re one of the top ranked students then Yale will consider it. Your ECAs are good, but nothing stellar… Just elaborate and highlight them on your resume. Don’t be discouraged because everyone who applies has a chance. If you don’t try, you’ll never know, and we at CC are in no position to really judge an applicant’s chances. Only the adcoms know this, and most of us are students (who are surprised and thankful to have gotten in) or worried applicants and parents who don’t know much about their own/their kid’s chances. <p>Well, I understand your point. But what if I wrote and also my counselor wrote that mr being very ill caused this horrendous grades and GPA. BTW, I am not sure whether I am getting C+ Plus the GPA is the worst possible estimate. Thanks anyways!!! Oh and my school does not have ranking. But I would say that I am in the top 10% of my class. Thank you!!!</p>

<p>Well, if you can show that you bounced back resiliently from your illness, then your chance improves. The adcom will look favourably upon it as well :)</p>
