Please Chance Me
For clarification purposes, I have yet to take the AP Exams for my senior ap’s. Also, I have a minimum day, which means I get a free 7th period.
@GeorgiaGuy123 I think you should be in good shape for Alabama. Can you afford the absurd OOS at some of these places?
I think you have a great shot at the UC’s and public schools in the south, enough to call them safeties and matches. Some others on here (namely Duke, Emory, Vandy, Pomona and Claremont) are crap shoots. The admission rates are low enough that any strong candidate like yourself has a slimmer chance no matter what their credentials. Your test scores and EC’s definetly qualify you for these schools, but the subjective stuff (essays, hooks, etc) is what will allow them to overlook your GPA TO AN EXTENT. But in hindsight, it’s really not that bad; I’ve seen worse. The weighted makes you look as competitive a candidate as anyone else.
Care to chance me back please?
@collegelyfelolol I’ll chance back. Thanks for giving feedback.
For Cali schools in your list, your GPA is low. UCs, in particular, care much about GPA:
Pomona - reach
Claremont - reach
USC - low reach/high match (loves your SAT)
UC Santa Barbara - high match
UCLA - low reach
@awesomepolyglot Maybe not lol
@uclaparent9 What in particular makes USoCal likes high SATs?
Hey there, just wanted to say that I’m pretty much in the same boat as you—high SAT but average GPA (2370, 3.7 UW, ~4.15 W for me!). I’m also applying to pretty selective schools like the ones on your list, so best of luck to both of us! Hopefully our test scores and ECs will help compensate for the lackluster grades
“Lackluster,” “average.” You’re completely out of touch, aren’t you?
Your grades are great, as are your test scores - don’t let yourself be consumed by the minutiae. Have fun and do what you love - worrying about things that insignificant won’t do any good.
@SirPepsi I guess my test scores are good. But it’s my GPA that I’m worried about. There are many kids applying to to the same schools that I’m applying to but with just as high test scores and a near perfect/perfect GPA. So, I’m not really special in the college’s eyes unless I write a great essay regarding one of my EC’s. When a kid like me has a high SAT score and 3.69 GPA, it shows the colleges that I’m not really working up to my potential.
By the way, I looked at your stats, they are amazing. It’s students like you that I have to compete against when applying to top schools like Duke, GTech, Vanderbilt, and so on. I’ll chance you back just for fun. Anyways, thank you for the advice to have fun and do what I love
@shadyconcepts Guess we’re in the same boat lolololo
Thanks and good luck, my friend.
