I have a high SAT score but a low ACT score. Should I send both of them? My counselor said it doesn't matter because they will only consider your highest score. What do you think? Thanks a lot.

I am currently experiencing a similar dilemma. However, my college advisor responded the same way yours’ did. I received a 32 on my ACT but only a 1370 on my SAT (Georgetown only looks at CR+M). Is that a dramatic difference?

Its quite common to do significantly better on one standarized test over another. Most people in fact give both a try to figure out which one they are better at.

If you did significantly higher on the SAT, there’s no reason to send the ACT. Most schools will consider only your highest score (note: I said most), but really, why risk it? Why would they want a lower score as well?

If some of your colleges allow score choice, just submit the SAT. (plus you’re saving $10 per college)

However, if others want you to send all of them, you have to send 'em all. Your GC is right…colleges only care about the highest score.

BUMP… I have an additional question. What if I’m applying to top colleges like IVY league colleges?

Even if they say they only consider the highest score, theres always a slight bias when they see a low score. Just send the SAT. Saves money and makes your application stronger.
