As a senior, I currently have a 3.4 unweighted GPA, 3.8 weighted but I took 6 AP classes total so far and taking four again this year.
Sadly, my grades have been declining but I have reasons with various club activities that I’ve added.
My SAT scores are 1480 and 1530.
I have roughly over 500 hours of community service and plan on using that to my advantage in both college essays and as a reason for my GPA.
Do you believe I can get into good schools?
Particularly the following:
- UCLA
-USC
- Columbia
-U Chicago
- Northwestern
- UCSD
- UCD
- Brandeis
-Oberlin
- UCSB
- Calstate SLO
-MCPHS
- Tulane
Thank you!!
If you are OOS for UCs, take them off your list unless you are willing to pay 60,000. No financial aid offered for OOS.
Any reason for the somewhat low UW GPA? What is your course rigor?
Thank you for replying!!
The APs I’ve taken are
Sophmore
- AP Biology (4) [SAT II: 770]
- AP European History (2)
Junior
- AP Eng Lang (4)
- AP USH (3) [SAT II: 680]
- AP Calculus AB (3)
- AP Chemistry (3)
Not to be a whiny baby, but my great grandmother died and the months following up to her death were filled with constant trips to the hospital, something my family required me to go along. I did adore her so I was willing but as a result, I was unable to study enough to keep up with my courses. I take full responsibility for my actions and don’t condone the trips but I realize I could’ve done something better with my time…
I live in California and while it’s not a top private school, it’s known around for academic rigor…
