Hello everyone. As the title suggests I have very low GPA of 72%(top quarter of my class) due to the fact that I suffered from Malaria during the final examinations (Physician recommended Bed rest, but well, I nevertheless appeared for the examinations) Added to all this, I’m an International student(Indian). If I successfully score more that 2300 in SAT, do I have a shot in any of those top schools??
My EC’s are pretty good:
Boxing 2 yrs, vocal music-9 years(3 diplomas from an Indian institution) Instrumental music- 2 years, IMO and NSO gold medalist, fluent in 3 programming languages
i don’t know where your top schools are.
If you are a full pay student, some colleges may move from being in the mesosphere to the stratosphere. But either way, your chances are pretty much nil as an international Asian student. Tbh, I wouldn’t even waste the application money to apply to an elite school.
Please return once you have actual (not speculative) SAT scores, and a list of colleges you are interested in. You are part of the most competitive demographic there is, and students struggle for admission to American colleges from India with near-perfect grades and scores. The scenario is even bleaker if you hope to receive some financial aid. If you define “those top schools” as the 25 or so with international brand recognition and prestige, then I’d say your chances are slim if you do score over 2300, and nearly nonexistent if you do not. If you can pay the full price and are more open-minded about where you go (as all American students have to be these days), then your prospects are much brighter.
