Will a high SAT kind of even out a lower GPA?
I scored at 1520 on the new test, however I only have a 3.0 (I think I'm in the top 20% of my highschool)
Do you think I still have a chance to get into Boston U, Vassar, Williams, Bucknell, or Oberlin?

If it helps I was recently diagnosed as a schizophrenic and my mother has had it for the past 6 years.

1520 is a poor score for the new sat. Coupled with a 3.0 gpa, things arent looking to good for that list. I'm not quite sure whether your diagnosis will help with anything.

Schools tend to view high SAT + low GPA students as smart but lazy - not exactly an appealing combo. However, your schizophrenia may well put a different view onto things. If your medical problems account for your low grades, be sure to have your GC explain that in his report.

I have a question along the same lines: I have a high ACT score (34), but a low GPA (3.4). However, the low GPA is due to poor grades freshman and sophomore year (mostly Bs), Junior year I earned all As while taking a difficult courseload (3APs and 3 honors courses) and this year I'm also taking difficult classes (7 APs) and earning good grades (mostly As). My question is whether the rise in my grades will counteract the "smart but lazy" image, which I feel is very inaccurate considering my passion about academics. The schools I'm applying are ones known for their brutal courseloads, so that in itself should show that I'm not looking to coast. Any thoughts would be appreciated!
