Hello there, I'd be glad if you could offer your opinion on my chances.

AP: three 5's
SAT II: 800 Bio, 750 Math II, 750 US

but...
UW GPA: 3.6
W GPA: 4.1

Hook: Does being born in China count?

I am applying to top schools including the business schools of Georgetown and UPenn. Do I have a chance? (And why not, please chance me for the rest of ivy league as well.)

The three 5's on AP exams and scores on SAT II's were taken on subjects that I received a "B" in. Yes, I attend a challenging public school. (My W GPA still places me near the top tenth.)

I suffered from a concussion junior year, and it made school difficult, which could have caused me to obtain 4 B's that year. (Should I mention that in an application?)

What school at Georgetown are you applying to? SFS and the College are more difficult to get into than the others. Regardless, those credentials look pretty competitive for GU and 3.6/4.1 is not bad at all (especially when you are getting 5’s in AP classes that you received B’s in).

As for Penn, probably much more dififuclt, given that they have already accepted almost half their class ED (47%). Still, with those SATs, definitely worth a shot.

SAT’s definitely help…but I feel kids overestimate their importance. Rigor of curriculum is the most important thing to adcoms. With that said, if you explain your circumstances, you have a shot at Georgetown. Wharton is a lot tougher. Your ethnicity does hurt you, and I doubt being born in China counts as a hook. I say it’s worth a shot though, there’s no harm in trying.
