Has anyone had any positive experience with high school abroad programs, particularly in Spain?
There are so many and difficult to ascertain which are reputable.
Are you interested in a one-year exchange program? Then start with these three. They are long-standing programs with good track records.

Are you interested in a spring break/winter break/summer vacation program? Then start with the Spanish teachers at your own high school. They will have suggestions for you.
We hosted a student from Youth For Understanding (YFU). https://www.yfu.org/
We found the program to be very well run…the students were prepped, we had orientations and meetings with other students/families throughout the year…they had a separate volunteer meet with the student monthly to make sure things were going well.
